According to annalist ZhugeEX the numbers come from the April 2016 NPD report. We are not dealing with VGchartz numbers here, folks . Seems like these Pokemons didn't just won in Japan. This puts into perspective which is the bigger franshise. I wonder which game people, that have played BOTH games, think is the better one.

Really, Pokken outsold SF. Didn't realise that congrats to Pokken. Shame to see a classic franchise struggle though

Wow...wasn't expecting that at all. Is SF dying? Or is it more of the fact that the game was unfinished and near unplayable (online) at launch? Maybe a little bit of both. I digress, conglaturations to Pokken! A winner is you!

SFV was destined to a lack luster reception when CAPCOM decided to release a unfinished project, especially when when other fighters like Guilty Gear, MKX, the upcoming TEKKEN and KING of FIGHTERS will have all thats expected from a fighter. SFV doesnt/or didn't even have an arcade mode. SFV is not an indicater of the brand power but how little patience people have left with CAPCOM and their fighters.

Both of those games also have problems with being half assed. SF4 had its own bumps as well.
