It's fucking ridiculous. I just got a vita and looking at the PlayStation store there are so many games on there that I want to get but they basically have a $60-$100 entry fee. I got a 32gb SD card for my 3ds for like $25 but to get that same memory on the vita I have to pay twice as much, to make matters worse vita games are typically bigger than 3ds games! Wtf Sony??

I don't think it is a big problem, I got a 8Gb memory card for only 20$ and using the CMA application to save games on my computer. And since i'm more of a Physical copies guy I don't need that much memory.
I don't believe many won't get a Vita merely because of the memory card prices. It's more of an already owner problem.

The day i got my 16GB card was a happy day, then i put some games on it, and i was sad again. Sony has so many good deals on PSN for the memory cards to be so high. You can get a 1TB HDD for less than the price of the 32 and 64GB Vita cards.

It's about money. Accessories and stuff is where the money's at. It just probably backfired a bit, because not a lot of people are willing to pay those prices for something that's pretty much essential. I considered buying a PSTV but after checking memory card prices, I changed my mind.

Wouldn't be suprised if the memory card killed the vita in the first place. The 3ds also uses sd/ micro sd and I don't see a piracy issue.

The margin for retailers on them was 50%. As someone said earlier. It was partly to appease retailers worried they would still hardware with tiny margins, then users would go fully digital leaving no cut for retailers.

Piracy was the other side. As much as it probably killed any mass market chances, the lack of piracy certainly seems to have helped with its software this last couple of years.

PS+ and PSN sales have made it a far cheaper console overall for a lot more content than the 3DS across their life spans for me though.

I'll probably get it later(as the cards are what they are, can't change it).

Im not just talking about now. Im talking about since it released. Why is Sony not lowering the PSVita price here in Australia to compete with the 3DS?  

Fortunately Vita OS discourages you from using multiple cards, so you won't be tempted to buy more or feel like you're missing out having only one memory card. I think gamers thinking about it should man up and buy it. Is this policy and price all fine and dandy? No. But it is worth it. I've purchased my 32 GB card years ago for 50 Euro and use it to this day and in all fairness - don't really need to upgrade. Vita is the ultimate handheld and you owe it to yourself to experience it.

Is 3DS really suffering from piracy? Are there already pirated carts like it used to be with the DS?

I may go all digital for Vita, which is why I think going for 64 GB would be good.
