In the end, if it provides profits for Nintendo and allows its presence to expand along with the theme parks, mobile, amiibo, tv shows/films, merchandise, etc., then it's a success. To determine Nintendo's fate with a piece of hardware that not even analysts know about is beyond ridiculous. That's like saying the Wii was destined to fail or that the Dreamcast would help Sega stop hemorrhaging get money before it's too late before they were unveiled or even given a chance to be in the market. It's not all black and white in this industry. Did anyone really think the DS would be what it is today and expand the touch screen gaming that is now the norm in smartphones and tablets or become the second best selling console of all time?
