Dooming a system before its announced is just mind boggling. There's zero information for us to determine whether it will be a success or a failure at this point as it hasnt even been announced yet. Lets all just take a step back and try to remember this :)

Having said that. I don't think a thread dooming an unannounced console is very constructive or viable, so for now I think it needs a lock.
