Well, I guess Sony can announce a $299 price at E3 and win the VR market before they even launch. Kinda like they did at E3 2013. They should also have a VR PS4 Bundle for $599. That would really drive the price point home, since that's the price of the Oculus Rift by itself.

We assumed something similar when prices for the Move and Kinect were announced and we all know how that turned out.

1. Can PSVR keep up if it's lower spec?  2.I'm just saying all these people asking for lower price are asking a compromise...

1. Im sure yes. I think Sony will provide the best line up of games  + lower price - will be the main selling factors.  Also u need  much more expensive PC to use other VRs than PS4 +. The userbase of high end PCs is not that big imo.

2. People asking for lower price are generaly 80 % of customers.

Do people really think a PC gamer enthusiast interested in VR is buying a PS4 plus PSVR instead?

What about non enthusiast, who just want to try something new and do not want to spent too much money on it ?

Dont forget developers point of view - the better selling system is always better than other one, even if the spec are inferior ?

I would say its more like 95%

Then what does this mean?, like in terms of VR, before anything has even transpired.

The assumption that PSVR is a crappier device because its cheaper is blatantly wrong.

First, both OR and Vive are both open market devices -- and the profit need to be earned on the hardware itself. They simply cannot loss lead/ break even. Sony on the other hand, gets royalties on every single game sold for its platform.

Second, the $299/$349 price is clearly not the whole package, but the entry level package for people like myself that already have the camera, 2 move wands, and 2 move navigators. Chances are there will be a second package for $75-150 more that includes the camera, 1/2 wands, a navigator and game. Both the Vive and OR come with controllers and movement sensors (the OR for example, is forcing people to buy a xb1 controller, even if they already have one).

My gut is telling me the entry sku will be $349.99 with 1 or two games included. However, if they somehow decide to losslead and go for $299.99, I'll preorder and early adopt with no questions asked.

Remember the "power brick" addon psvr also needs to run on ps4.. that could be 199$ just for that..

If Sony can do 399$ for the basic bundle.. I think they will take a huge hit.. And I dont seeing them doing that.. not when 10 other companys will release (proberlly better) VR producs in 2017)

499$ for the basic model.. And 549-599$ for all needed hardware (whit out a ps4)

That addon is like a $15-30 device that simply duplicates the frames and applies the fish eye. It seriously is nothing that fancy...

If Sony launches at 499 they will lose the VR war instantly. Occulus Rift is $599 and includes the device, an xb1 controller, a camera, a motion controller, and a game --- and you can use it for PORN.

Many people like myself are in this boat:
$299 device only - Willing to preorder without hesitation.
$349 device only - Likely to preorder
$399 device only - Reluctant to buy
$449 device only - Unlikely to buy
$499 device only - Not going to buy at all

Throw in the camera, 1 or 2 wands, and possibly the navigation controller for $75-125 upgrade and its essentially the same deal for those without the addons already.

lower price=bigger userbase and the userbase is what devs care the most.

it will be cheaper to buy a ps4 and psvr than just vive...

...and at these prices vive will only get psvr console ports because the market is going to be too damn small to create anything that isn't multiplat except for maybe low speced indies which isn't something that would motivate me to pay $800.

With the way Valve are bundling everything together including the room tracking and 2 controllers maybe they have Half Life 3 as their killer app??.

I think Valve really could make Half Life 3 into the ultimate VR experience.

we already know their killer apps...
