Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is every Link in each LoZ game the same person or a decendant of the First?

I think Link is a soul created by the keepers of time to fight evil.

He is reincarnated when he is needed, by the gods.

So, yes, he is the same person, and yes, he is a decendant of himself.

I like that theory the best.

What I said makes sense, and you won't find a timeline fanatic out there who can deny the probability that what I said is in fact not only possible, but probable.

No self respecting Zelda fan that actually cares for what the games tell him would argue against that, though I admit a surprising number of "experts" *don't* care about the truth in this matter.

As for this thread, I'm amazed at how utterly poor people's grasp of the Zelda continuity is. People say they want 'better' storylines, yet they obviously can't be arsed to play the games as it is if they can't even tell they take place hundreds of years apart, or think that TP is a prequel to TWW even after the split timeline has been confirmed.

By the way, denying the timeline is a pretty stupid right now since Nintendo is finally starting to actually bother linking games and expanding the collective universe. Bah...

On topic: Yes, Zenford is correct and it was confirmed in TWW and TP, and implied in pretty much every game since OoT. And the Links of LoZ-AoL, ALttP-LA, OoT-MM, OoA-OoS, TWW-PH, and (likely) FS-FSA are the same. This is a fact.

Around the Network

That is one hell of a difficult topic, but the original question is rather easy to be answered. Cheebee already did it right I think, but I will repeat it here:

There are several Link's, and they are not even called Link! The name is just a placeholder, and it is never mentioned in game. Of course there are some games that re-use a very popular Link, i.e. they are sequels to other games.

The Zelda's are different every time too (with the exception of the sequels of course) and they are called Zelda in remembrance of one princess (Explained in the manual of The Adventure of Link).

Ganon, however, is the same person every time.

As for the timeline itself, as others stated, this is not so important for Nintendo and therefore not so easy to track. First, here is a list of the games that clearly relate to each other and have the same link starring:

The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link
A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening
Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask
The Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass

That leaves us The Minish Cap, The Oracles and Twilight Princess. The Minish Cap and TP clearly feature a new Link, while The Oracles both feature the same Link and also one that already was in another game, but we can't say in which one.

This makes it clear that the game that relate together come after each other in the timeline. Also, I think we can take Ocarina of Time as the first game. The rest is difficult to say.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

If you try to argue a timeline and site, post, or even acknowledge the atrocity that is Gametrailers "timeline theory" without mentioned how wrong it is, you will FAIL INSTANTLY. Thank you

So, could you be so nice and post a link to the most accurate theory/s....?

Thank you

There have already been several threads about this topic right here on this board, and just about every timeline theory presented shat on Gametrailer's.

You're welcome.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

I get vgchartz homepage with that link o.o

gametrailers theory seems pretty right in most parts, minish cap does seem like the first followed by OoT then time split happens. Nintendo guy stated there was a split that happens after OoT so there are 2 timelines.

Then the list of games they put in hyrule A and B are wrong then?
