Joe Abercrombie - http://www.joeabercrombie.com/ - My favourite author writes some amazing Fantasy novels, Start with the First Law Trilogy and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
My other top authors:
Patrick Rothfuss - The Kingkiller Chronicle
Scott Lynch - Gentleman Bastard series
Bernard Cornwell - The Warlord trilogy based on the Arthurian legend is probably my favourite of his but also love the Grail Quest and Saxon Stories.
Brandon Sanderson - The Stormlight Archive
Hm. That's kind of tough.
Catch 22 - Pure brilliance.
Neuromancer
The Many Colored Land series - Very unique and creative sci-fi/fantasy hybrid.
Hyperion series
The Doomsday Book - Amazing book about a time-traveling researcher who gets stuck in the horrors of the Black Plague period of Europe by accident.
Clan of the Cave Bear series - The first book was remarkable.
Dune series
The Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through
The Real Story and the rest of the Gap series
The Riftwar Saga series - The original series was awesome, some of the best fantasy I've ever read.
Dragonsong and Dragonsinger
The Observations
The Left Hand of Darkness
Skinny Legs and All
Watership Down
The Forgotten Beasts of Eld and pretty much anything else from Patricia McKillip
My brother and dad swear by the "feel" of a book in hand.
Personally I prefer to just load it onto a tablet and lay in bed reading, on the tablet.

Good taste in books right there :) One of my favorite book series too, Rothfuss is a great author.
Some of my favorite series:
Faith Hunter - thorn st. croix
Jim Butcher - The Dresden Files (http://www.jim-butcher.com)
Kim Harrison -The Hollows Series (aka Rachel Morgan-Series)
Richelle Mead - Georgina Kincaid (much better than her Vampire Academy series)
Never really got into reading books outside of what was mandatory for shool, but i have read most of the James Bond novels and i've recently started reading the new novels that are considered Star Wars canon.
I've started reading novels about a year or so ago. I have alot of catching up to do.
These are the series that I've read up til now.
The Sword of Truth
The Codex Alera
The Wheel of Time
I'm currently reading the A Song of Ice and Fire (also known as the game of thrones). I have no clue which series I'll read after that.
The learned ladies (Molière) is my all time favourite.
My favourite series would be Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria, I guess. With Narita Ryogo (Durarara, Vamp, Baccano and Etsusa Bridge) as my favourite youth novel series author.

Someone else that reads Jim Butcher books :)
But you need to read Harry Dresden, that series is by far his best.
(imo Dresden files > Cinder Spires > Codex Alera)

Haven't read dresdan files or cinder spires but I will.
So far Codex Alera > Wheel of Time > The Sword of Truth. So I like butcher's writing.
