Well, if Democrats are considered as left, I choose Left as a non-american male.
I would never vote for a ultra-conservative party.

From what I understand, we don't have any comparatively "left" parties.

Would you still support them, if they changed their name to the "Dermacats" and proposed replacing all dermatologists with cats?

Once "dermacats" popped into my head, I was kinda stuck with the mess that I has created...

This is yet another call for the female vote lol.

Is it true that the Republicans are evil? That's the perception I have of them from various media.

So I'd favour the non-evil ones... obviously

I missed you!

This article explains of the collapse of an oil-based economy that just happens to be occuring in a socialist nation.

Said socialists also happen to be corrupt as fuck... true socialism is something we only saw during the 50's...

Having performed polls on the world views of both Donald Trump and Barack Obama, I am now looking to cross-reference them against the users' political identifications. Without this information, I think it's fair to say that those results lack context. As a point of clarification, even if you identify as "Independent," please choose which way you lean.

For the purposes of this poll, "right," will mean favoring the US Republican Party (prioritize fiscal conservatism, religion, deregulation, and laissez-faire capitalism), and "left" will mean favoring the US Democratic Party (prioritize social welfare, secularism, regulation, and socialist/capitalist hybridized economic policies).

The poll options aren't parties, they are placements on an outdated political paridigm rooted in revolutionary France (most republicans and people today would be left-wing/moderate in said assembly - as absolutists don't exist in liberal societies.) Also what if I agree with neither on all of these issues? The bolded are what I like, while the rest I don't like. I also don't think Republicans represent the bolded well. Nor do I think Democrats are bastions of their bolded.

Anyway I'd choose the Libertarian Party if I were to choose a party. I generally don't like parties though, and even find the Libertarian Party to be quite weak on many issues and distorted due to politics.

These are the issues they campaign on, purport themselves to represent, and that grab the support of uninformed voters. An honest assessment of the parties would find them to be exactly as you state they are; they represent overlapping agendas that are not reprsentative of the populace. My intent is just to discern leanings of the forum users, so I can normalize the Trump/Obama polls. We are largely in agreement and most likely share similar concerns about the political system, but I wanted to properly contextualize this poll.
