Forums - Movies & TV - Disney at the Box Office & Upcoming Movies

Disney is literally the Apple of tech industry. So little movies yet so profitable :P.
Now that i think about it, the Force is very strong with America, whether it is tech, or movies, tv shows, or video games, they always come out on top.

I just watched it two days ago. I loved inside out. Such a creative movie. Don't see how it didn't get one billion

Well at least it made some good money The Good Dinosaur kinda bombed.

I never watched it. Looked like an eh movie. I expected it to get around 300 million. However, it seems it only made 193 million worldwide.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Not a very good comparison. Apple is much more profitable while Disney's studio only had an operating income of $1.5B during the last fiscal year despite the releases of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Maleficent and Frozen.

Even when Apple has its slumps, it still is a monster. I can't believe Steve Jobs managed to create such a powerful company.

Disney always has always a big movie in a year that just flop and with those huge marketing budgets it is still pretty impressive (25% of revenue as profit)

Last year they didn't had that many movies and only Muppets failed (not even with that much). Plus these films bring so much to the merchandising that the Walt Disney Company as a whole earns far more

300 seems about right it still has a good amount of foreign markets where it hasn't opened yet.  If it weren't for Tomorrowland it would have been easily Disney's biggest bomb of the year since it had a $200 million production budget and a $150 million dollars advertising budget.

Well they had two pretty big bombs this year in Tomorrowland and The Good Dinosaur and the year before that they had a huge bomb in The Lone Ranger.

High risks come high rewards. You gotta sacrifice the pawn in order to win the the whole thing!

Well The Lone Ranger shouldn't have been made in the first place not with that budget anyway.  No Western should have a budget over $100 million dollars.
