November:

November marked the beggining of the holiday season, it was a busy month as expected, some noteworthy points.

- To the surprise of no one Monster Hunter X was the best selling game of the month by a mile, and in just 2 days it's the second best selling game of the year and gave a great bump to all 3DS SKUs. Black Ops III also did really well, the game is showing legs so it should do nicely for the rest of the year, it's actually the 5th all time best selling game on the system, it should also outsell Bloodborne soon to become the 4th. Star Wars: Battlefront also did better than what I was expecting, it'll be interesting to see how it performs for the rest of the year. As for legs, with the Splatoon bundle that game did very good for the month, interesting that Super Mario Maker didn't collapse as it's still doing well, apart from that there'a also Yokai Watch Busters that should just keep on going, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer left the top 15 and Minecraft Vita was unable to return either, though both sold well for the month.

- On hardware there's an interesting story, last month I said that there was no clear #1 for the month, it was either PS4 of the New 3DS LL. For most of the month it was the PS4, in fact the system even managed to get ahead of the New 3DS LL on th YTD race for a couple of weeks, but Monster Hunter X proved too strong, on the last week of the month the New 3DS LL sold almost as much as the PS4 did for the whole month, taking over the month and pulling a head of the YTD race. PS4 actually managed a good ~13k difference to it, but now it's around ~60k in favour of the New 3DS LL. Apart from that WiiU and Vita had another decent enough month.

What to expect next month?

As usual December is going to be the biggest month of the year, what's interesting this time is that is not packed with releases as with previous years (guess publishers rather pack February and March now), still some big games coming out.

Vita's big December release is right before Xmas with Kidou Senshi Gundam: Extreme VS Force on the 23rd (12 days of tracking), with smaller titles such as Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni on the 10th (25 days of tracking) with both Miracle Girls Festival and Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky on the 17th (18 days of tracking) Vita's big holiday game is course Minecraft, that's already the best selling game on the system and should also become the best selling retail game by the end of the year. Sony has shifted Vita ads from otakus to kids due to the success of Minecraft and upcoming 2016 software so it should have a fine holiday.

3DS will be riding on older titles, Monster Hunter X should keep selling well throughout the month as well as Yokai Watch Busters, that game is getting a whole game worth of free DLC and with the second Yokai movie it should sell really well, as far as December releases go there are only two notable, Monster Strike on the 17th (18 days of tracking) and Medabot 9 on the 24th (11 days of tracking), Monster Strike mainly has the change of being a surprise hit, just as PazuDora Z was.

PS4 is getting three particularly big games all on the same day, Fallout 4, Exist Archive and JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Eyes of Heaven are all coming out on the 17th (18 days of tracking), apart from that there's not all that coming to the system, it should do well enough on the holidays

Finally WiiU is getting the last retail game of the year with Genei Iburoku #FE on the 26th (9 days of tracking) don't have high hopes for it, WiiU will be riding on the Splatoon/Mario Maker train.

As fas as predictions go, Monster Hunter X should again be the best selling game of the month with the New 3DS LL as the best selling hardware, holidays are usually stronger for Nintendo hardware so WiiU should keep good pace, might even sell more than the PS4. Not to diss Sony systems of course, as mentioned before the Vita should also do very well as the PS4.

3DS sold more software than everything else combined, not surprising.

Great November for Monster Hunter and 3DS.

Big November win for hardware and software for the ps4 in the home console front.

I see its sales for the 11 months of 2015 so far are double the Wii U. And the system is only getting started. It will take the #1 place next year.

Great thread btw. I've never seen anything this useful over on gaf. Keep it up!

Nice numbers for the 3DS and Monster Hunter!

Great thread, Kylee!

Unsurprising to see MHX on top, but I am pretty surprised to see the effect it had on the 3DS. I mean I knew it would give a boost, but not one that big. SMM and Splatoon also carrying the Wii U fairly well. Curious to see exactly how well Monster Strike will do next month, as well as Genei Ibun Roku #FE.

So the 3DS won as I predicted. I remember many people claiming the PS4 would win for sure. Oh well...

Also, nice to see Splatoon still holding so well, might even hit 1m physically there this year!

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

It sold in one week more than what ps4 sold in the whole November! Monster Hunter X+ New 3ds xl power! :P

Apparently, it would end up winning even without Monster Hunter X release... Just check the weekly sales and the trending...

Nice 3DS numbers, guess it still can't be beaten by PS4.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Yes, it was already winning even without MHX. December will be a walk on the park too.
