Releasing the system in 2016 is also a clever move due to the competition: in 2013 both PS4 and X1 will be only 3 years old meaning that the NX (if released with proper specs) will be leading hardware-wise for AT LEAST two years... |
There's absolutely no Game confirmed for the NX. None.
Patents mean nothing. Around 90% of them never become reality.
Of course Nintendo already develops games for the NX even if it comes in 2017. Game development in the 21st century takes around 3 years. If the console is now much more powerful Nintendo may even need up to 4 years for some big titles.
PS4 and Xbox One will have their peak year in 2016. People will focus on these systems and nobody cares for a console which is the successor to a fatal flop. Just think about it: Many people still play on last Gen systems. In 2016 they will move to current gen systems. If you would have the choice to choose between the NX and a PS4, what would you take? Of course, the PS4. Nobody bothers about a new Nintendk console at this time. Nintendo needs to wait until those people have a PS4/Xbox One and then tries to get people taking the NX as a secondary console. Nothing else would make sense at this point of this generation. And leading in terms of specs doesn't mean anything. Developers will still programm their games with the PS4 as the lead platfrom. They won't even use the full power of the NX.
