I'll say Batman Arkham Knight. Game itself didn't look any different gameplay wise from last-gen, but the graphics were astonishing.

Splatoon for me. I never had any intentions of getting it, and didn't even bother to try the test-fire. A few days before it launched I got hyped though, I wanted to paint stuff so bad for some reason. So I bought it on launch and have been playing almost daily since :)

Around the Network

Rocket league the online sleeper hit of the year. It went from a nobody to millions playing on pc and ps4. 5 million downloads the month of release. Huge success.

Offline surprise of the year has to be until dawn for me.

The Order 1886. I expected a terrible game based on reviews, but I got a visceral fun and engaging game with a great story.

I am Iron Man

Splatoon. Didn't even think I would buy it, now I really really like it.

Ori and the Blind Forest.

I thought the game looked good in trailers before its release. But when I finally got to play it, it was way more than I expected. The game blew me away so many times. First game by Moon Studio, yet already in the same class as the industry's greats.

Here's hoping they'll build on it and make a sequel.
