Forums - Gaming Discussion - What is your favorite game genre?

Platformers, Fighters, RPGs, Action Adventure are my favorite genres.

It seems like game genres have become a lot more fluid over the last ten years. Games rarely fall neatly into a specific category. But I digress

OT: number one for me is action-adventure. The combination of mental challenges with real-time action and exploration is, to me, the perfect framework for a video game.

After that it would probably be platformers, RPGs, and shooters.

1. RPGs, specifically JRPGs
2. Action/Adventure, with enjoying hack and slash quite a bit
3. Platformers, 2D or 3D

Honestly, the only type of games that really don't care for are FPSs (there are rare exceptions) and anything that heavily leans on online (MMO, MOBA, etc.)

Horror, but not modern horror games, they all suck.
Also the Ace Combat series.

Sorry, but what would you say are horror games you enjoy? I also really enjoy playing them, but found them harder to come back as time went on. I really didn't like the more current horror games. I still prefer older ones on previous consoles. O:

RPG

Im starting to see a theme here.....

rpgs + action/adventures + platformers.

Almost everyone here mentions one of these.
Im surprised so few mention shooters.

1. RPG
Action Adventures and Platformers are far far far behind)

I like a lot of thins, but my prefered is definetly RPG. Even tough nowadays RPG kinda seeped into every other genre, there isnt 1 game out there that doesnt have some RPGs elements in them, theres always some sort of lv progression at the least.

That's because fans of shooters don't know how to read and write /ShooterFansAreDumbJoke
