I agree. Copying the full article is unethical and disrespectful. It's also illegal--people HAVE been sued for it.

ohh guys learn what ethics is and why something cant be unethical as long as you are in a space without a clear ethics code.

we arent journalists, so we arent bond to journalists ethics code.

and people have be sued for feeding homeless people, you dont have to feel bad just because you could get sued.

People sound just like politicians in here with trying to propose new ways to fix an issue by making new rules or some other change. There's already rules in place about this.... They could be changed to fit the way things are now or they just need to be enforced but that's entirely up to the mod team. Personally, I'm fine with people posting an entire article or partial with their own thoughts or not, just as long as they link the original article and may list the author, too.

(Edit) Some images will not show up on here. It's difficult to tell even with reviewing the post which will work or not until you post the thread.  So that's why some images in article type threads won't show up. It's not laziness in most cases.

So just don't provide VGChartz with any content anymore. They expect us to digest articles and rewrite them for them? Yeah, no thanks. The owner doesn't even contribute numbers to the site anymore, why would I go above and beyond to write for them?

Copy/pasting w/ the source link should be fine. Failing that, no, I will not be paraphrasing entire articles for VGChartz.

But.. That would require effort.. This site isn't giving me enough to actually put any effort into the threads.. If i could get away with:"Big PS4 news" and then "see title thread" i would do it..

Then don't make threads. This is a really shitty excuse for poor reporting practices.

Eh, this is a FORUM not a news site........ Nothing at all wrong with copying and pasting an article as long as you link to the article (though I do somewhat agree about formatting errors)

If it takes clicks away from Polygon... i'm all for it. other sites... i guess its wrong

Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel about it. It's just an indication of how unappreciated those people are that keep new and interesting information flowing through the forum. I was one of 3 people on another forum that kept bringing new content for people to read. I don't know how the other 2 worked but I would bring information I wasn't interested in myself because I knew that others were. Once that forum banned full articles, all 3 of us stopped posting them and those that called for it posted nothing. That forum is now completely dead because people were coming to the forum for news and to discuss the news. So instead of contributing to the forum when they found news, they just stayed where the news was. Many are now on N4Gs and Gaff.

The PS5 Exists.

It's against forum rules to copy and paste, but it never seemed to be punished.

This is totally correct.

FYI it's already against the forum rules.

I don't want to see peoples (probably) biased take on it though. Leave that shit out of the OP please. Just copy/paste the first paragraph or something and say read the rest of the article here(link to article).

This is exactly what should happen. It's not our jobs to make detailed unbias summaries, which most are incapable of anyway, but this method is what the mods should see to look to in the future.

Anytime I've ever put an article on here, I've provided the source link, and usually even the writer's name.  I've never taken credit for someone elses work.  I do think that should be stomped on, harshly (Not properly providing source links/notation).  But beyond that, the policy is absurd.  But w/e, not my site, not my problem.  I don't really come to VGchartz for games news anyway.
