Forums - Gaming Discussion - Watch Dogs - honest question

I've played it only for couple of days, and I'm already wondering should I stop. I've recently finished Sleeping Dogs, liked it quite a bit, so went with "let's play another GTA-esque"...but so far, I find it terribly bland and boring, cluttered with usual Ubisoft collectathon design.

Now, I had similar problem before, back when Mafia 1 released, I've played it, loved it and then went on to play GTA: Vice City...and stopped the very same day I started. It took me some 6 months to forget the Mafia feel and get back to playing GTA, but eventually I've played it and liked it a lot.

So, honest question, specifically for fans of the genre - is the game really bad, I've read some really off-putting stuff about it, or I might be just feeling a bit  fatigued currently from the genre?

The game isn't necessarily bad. It just doesn't have a lot of good. It's fairly dull overall, driving is pretty shit, and the story isn't anything to really care about. If I had to give it a number rating, I'd say about a 6.5/10 is right. Not terrible, but not really worth playing for most people either.

I think it can be a fatigue problem, given that Sleeping Dogs is awesome and after playing that one, going for a "less good" Gta-esque game might not be the best idea.

Well I stopped play watchdogs almost immediately, not a massive fan of the genre but I like GTA and AC, but for some reason watchdogs just didn't click with me. Glad I only payed 15 quid for it

For my liking GTA V is obviously awesome and Watch Dogs is inferior but still a very good game, by no means worse than Sleeping Dogs, for sure.

So yeah, fatigue might be a problem, you should try a couple months later I guess.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Well, three things to keep in mind:

1) Watch Dogs is a Ubisoft open world. So if you don't like those (Assassin's Creed, The Crew), you will have the same kind of issues here

2) The game isn't bad, but it's not remarkable. It's largely described as "OK" and your enjoyment will heavily depend on how you like the games actual gameplay and mechanics.

3). Aside from one or two weird and completely out of place trippy side activities, Watch Dogs has virtually no sense of humor ironic or otherwise. So if that element of GTA or Saints Row are part of what you like, you will not find it here.

I generally like that genre including ubisoft's assassins creed franchise, but watch_dogs was just completely underwhelming for me. It's completely lacking in personality, has a boring protagonist, becomes exceedingly repetitive almost immediately, and certain mechanics (such as driving) are pretty bad.

I certainly didn't find myself hoping for a sequel.

I played through the story and thought the gameplay is absolutely great. Plays better than any GTA I ever played.
Besides that, the game didnt have anything that kept me going. but the gameplay was superb

it was ok

Fatigue problem. It's an ok game.

Vice city... You stopped playing Vice City? How? Probably my favourite gta ever.
