Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty! Massive improvements over the mechanics in MGS1, a convoluted but awesome story, good soundtrack and decent replayability, among other "solid" extras.

Boss fights were kind of meh, though.

OP: MGS4. True it had a shit load of cutscenes. But honestly I'll take that over none in MGS5.

Sons of Liberty is my third favourite. It was actually my first Metal Gear game, so I wasn't angry when I switched from Snake to Raiden.
