I would agree. It's the simple fact that the same basic design has existed throughout 4 consoles. Aside from the first batch on the ps1 without analog sticks, the biggest departure was the ps4's design, and it still kept the same basic shape.

The DS4 is easily the best controller of all time.

However the sixasis was garbage and the DS3 was overshadowed by the much superior 360 controller.

The Ps1/Ps2 were decent at best.

Iconic? Maybe for button placement? But overall I'd take the 360/Xbone two generations of great controllers over Sony's 1 (DS4) generation of great controllers.

To be honest if we're talking overall; none of the three major players are very iconic with their controllers.

Atari 2600, NES, and Dualshock designs are definitely the most iconic controllers

Also the fact if there was a major revision, millions of gamers would come out of the woodwork to criticize it. That's why it's iconic. It's almost irreplaceable. People are gonna be angry even the select and start>>> options and share got some fans upset. Lol

NES is most iconic, with probably the dual shock second. The Atari joystick is in the mix with the Xbox 360 pad taking on the modern stereotype of what a game interface looks like.

Eh, the DS4 may be better than Ninty's controller's this gen, but I still think out of MS, Ninty, Sony, and Sega, Sony makes the worst controllers. Just my opinion.

ICONIC is something remembered. NES controllers does not represent memorable or iconic.

It's more iconic among children, if that's what you mean.
