I will say, as a Canadian that's travelled all throughout the US and Canada, that there are a lot of misconceptions people have about the US. I think nationalist identity really causes this friction. For example, driving through minnesota and stopping in Minneapolis, I never had more friendly encounters with people in my life. From just walking down the street and having people acknowledge you with a smile and a "hi", to going to a bar and ending up meeting three people and having drinks with them all night. Sure, there are certain places where you'll encounter ruder people, but those are generally in the high population areas like New York or Los Angeles. In places like that, theres so much going on, and so many people, that people don't have the time for much other than what's going on in their own life. (Will say partying in NYC is way better than partying in LA though)

Aside from that, a lot of people in Canada hate Toronto for the same reason, but from my experience living in Toronto, compared to the other cities I've lived in, it's a super nice place to live. People just tend to hate on what they've never experienced, and/or when they do go, they keep a closed mindset and it hampers their experience.

Now, in the house that I live, I've had many ex-pat roommates who have come from all over Europe to live in Toronto for 6 months at a time. Out of all the French people (4 to be exact), only one of them was super open minded and embraced North American culture. The one I'm stuck with now just hates on anything American, and usually it's in stark contradiction with anything factual. For example, she thinks Americans are all fat, cancer filled, and eat terribly... yet France has a higher cancer rate than the United States does. Or watching Narcos, she laughed at scenes like "this doesn't happen in real life, stupid american shows." I then proceed to show her documentaries on the cartels of South America and Mexico, and she realizes she's an idiot.

So I guess in conclusion, I will say one thing, for all the bad shit the United States government and it's corporations do in the world, there is an equal level of good that has been done to the world through American influence. I guess what I'm trying to say is, as much as I dislike the American government (despite Obama being pretty dope compared to any of the presidents in recent history), I wouldn't want to live next to any other country in this world.

Most Europeans I encounter have a strange romanticism with their country, and it's pretty annoying to deal with. "What is this wine? This wine is shit. French wine is much better."
"What is this music? This music is shit."
"I do not understand why you guys do this, this is stupid."

Blah blah blah. European Elitism is a real thing, and it's the worst. It's like having someone come over to your house and they say "I don't like the way you decorated your place, my place is better." EVERYDAY. WITH EVERY SINGLE THING.

...maybe I've just had bad luck, but I'd rather joke with a yank and make fun of them, and have them make fun of me, than have a French person act like they're better, and then get pissy when I critique something about their culture.

nobody likes french people, not even french people.

I cannot judge its people from interactions on the internet and anecdotal stories and how the media portrays them. However, the key here is that from my impressions so far, America is filled with willful idiots - people who have the capacity but squander them.

Speaking of squandering, I stopped by to tell you that your country is run by a cabal of power-hungry idiots. No, being black or a woman will not change being power-hungry or stupid.

It's been in decline for roughly 45 years, the decline has accelerated the past 15 years.
We're talking moral, societal and economic decline all concurrently.

The sample size for these tests are far too small, in my opinion.

But, you only prove my point. These people - with a better education system, and if they chose to go against the grain to actually study to gain knowledge - would know more. I know how horrible the education system is.

That, and with enough mental gymnastics, it's actually possible to believe that both creationism and evolution are true.

For instance, God created the world and subjected it to the effects of Time Dilation as to experience 5 billion (or whatever the proven age is) years in the span of just five thousand.

What do you think about America?

I love America. It is my homeland and I am glad to live here.  That being said I do hate some things about my homeland. I do not like the people who live in my country. Too many religious nutjobs (I'm religious just so you know) and also there are a lot of ignorant morons on both sides of the political spectrum, both liberal and conservative. I am embarrased about my country being the home to many idiots such as George W. Bush, most people on Fox News, and Anita Sarkeesian (is she 'Murican IDK). But I am also glad that I share the same homeland with great poeple like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, MLK Jr., Mark Twain, and Harriet Tubman.

I am annoyed with America's foreign policies. I wish we were more isolationist like we were in the 1930's and kept our noses out of the rest of the world's problems. I whole heartedly wish we would close our borders and never interact with the rest of the world again, but I know that being completely isolationist would probably never be possible in the U.S.

That is just my opinion, what is yours? Do you love America or do you chant death to America (along with your fellow Jihadists)!

America in total I like as continent, but I don't like the aditute of a lot of people from the USA. They tend to think that USA is America(don't know all countries but America is devided in North America and South America both parts are devided in several other countries) and also their politics create that a lot of people in the world think that the USA is a real bad land with very bad people who only trying to manipulate and create chaos in the world! Also business wise I meet with a lot of people from the USA and a lot of them really don't have any feeling of culturual differences between countries and only push their culture (which is very young and not really a culture as most of the people which call themselves people from the USA are in reality European people)! Also I know how the govnerment and a lot of people in the USA treat the real native people from USA and it's really very bad in general!

From my subjective point, I lived in the New York area, which was terrible and confirmed all things which everyone said about USA
But when I went to other sides and specially Portland Area/Oregon the people were really great and very friendly, completely different from the other side of the USA! So my own experience is devided in good and bad. But generally as a country (mostly govnerment and the big companies in USA) I don't like USA! Specially because of their bad involvement in the world where they try to be some kind of super cop country, but in all ways they fail again again and again. Because first they created the threat and then they want to eliminate the threat! (Sadam, Bin Laden, Kadaffy etc etc etc), also the involvement of their central banks around the world who are creating only debts(http://www.nationaldebtclocks.org/ see what kind of debts govnerments have now days because of the central banks just creating money out of nothing and putting interest on that created money) for the casual people instead of helping and when there is a new war of dictator eliminated suddenly there is a central bank which is partly owned by the same private owners of the FED! And last but not least, they are saying Russia is a bad country with involvement in Syria, but in reality Russia is the only country which is showing that they want a stable country instead of just eliminating a dictator they don't have under controll and give IS all room to spread in that Area! I think the people don't understand, but because of their involvement more then 50% of the civiliance in those countries are trying to refugee in Europe!(they can't go to the USA because of the distance and cost)
