Forums - Gaming Discussion - 8th generation - Overwhelming number of games.

I stopped playing video games for a while and focus on professional studies during the end of the 7th Generation. I bought a Wii U at launch and a Xbox One when Titan fall bundle hit the market.

The WiiU had a very easy to follow slow pace of games release and while it sometime felt underwhleming it never really felt like I would not be able to play any games that I really enjoy. But, the same can't be said for Xbox One and PS4, with the amount of new release, indie games and older game getting remastered and collection bundles. The shear amount of games coming out is trully overwhelming. Looking at every game that will release this Holiday and numbers of games that I have bought and not played yet. My backlog is already getting way out of hand and that's not even including my totally ignored WiiU and 3DS in recent months.

This holiday season is simply crazy when you look at all the game coming to both consoles and their respective exclusives. That's just the big retail games and if you take into consideration all the Indie games and games made available by Xbox Live's deal with gold and PS plus free games. Anyone that complains with lack of games with either PS4 or Xbox One is crazy, IMO.

The troubles of being in the god race.

Yep, too damn many games, if you ask me. All that i foresee myself buying is The Uncharted Collection and Fallout 4. I may grab a few older 8th gen games on black friday, but that'll be about it for me.

Don't you know there is no gaemz? This gen sucks? And all that stuff? Geez!

To be fair last year was not that great especially for hardcore players that played every game of 7th gen .... my favorite game last year was Tomb Raider Definitive Edition. There way to many remastered, quick ports and difinitve edition for gamers like myself that missed out on these games during the 7th gen. But, this year his is going to be huge in terms of AAA games. (too bad Uncharted 4 and Zelda WiiU is not releasing this year or could of been one of the greatest year in video games history)

As a primarily handheld gamer myself, I have to say the DS and the PSP brought way more games to the table than the 3DS/Vita. Distribution for most of them was awful, but still, my "Must play" list still has more DS games than 3DS. The effects of the mobile uprising, I suppose.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Besides The Witcher 3, the 8th gen has been pretty damn boring in my opinion.

Man, seem like the 3DS is dead and being discontinued. I though for sure Nintendo was going to push the New 3DS and have much more support for the handheld this E3 with everything happening with the WiiU and NX not being at the show. But, instead they barely announce any exclusive game for the 3DS and New 3DS. It just goes to show that every Nintendo hardware is getting zero support from 3rd party developpers and is creating embarrassing drought for Nintendo.

I'm going to the Nintendo World Store for the first time next week, I was concidering picking up a New 3DS to commomerate the occassion but I hardly see the reason to get a New 3DS.

Well, the N3DS was a tricky console to pull off in the first place. With almost 50m regular 3DS in the market to begin with, who is going to develope new games for the new version, when they could sell them on the regular version ang gain five times more audience. Even for quick ports, it's not a very lucrative option. I'm sure the original plan was to release a console able to play ported GC/Wii games to fill the droughts, but they then just scrapped that and continued with the NX.

I made a thread counting the N3DS exclusive titles some time ago. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=196778&page=1

Also, have fun at the Nintendo World Store!

I also took time away from games for the 7th gen, and felt the same way then. Now there's even more games! It's a good problem to have though.
