Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is PlayStation Smarter Than XBOX Games Division

This year will be steller for gaming, particularly from 3rd parties.

MGS5

Witcher 3

Batman AK

Are already amazing games.

Then there's still Fallout 4 and the return of CODs best current dev with Black Ops 3, and the very exciting Star Wars Battlefront.

Is Sony smart to hold back its major exclusives until 2016 where there's not as much stellar competition?

Exlcusives are best when there's a lack of 3rd party major hitters. Seems like the full line up is already here. The average consumer doesn't buy THAT many games  a year.

Why put Halo against the return of fan favourite Black Ops and Star Wars. Then tomb Raider against MGS and Fallout with GOTY contenders like Batmam and Witcher probably discounted at the time as well.

are these thread getting extra ridiculous?

I do prefer Sony's philosophy of releasing games through-out the year as opposed to throwing them into the "holiday season", which happens to be knee-deep in the biggest third party releases of the year. I think it's a better global strategy.

While not competing against yourself is generally a good business decision, they did plan on releasing more games this year... And last year too. They could be planned delays... They also may not be. There are plenty of games releasing in 2016 too.

Sony's games can stand out on their own
own. I just like that they release games all throughout the year.

I just think Sony understands the market better than last generation and they don't need a big game int he fall to sell consoles like MS does.Halo means much more to the success of the Xbox than Uncharted does to the PS,because Sony has never had one franchise that they depended on to sell consoles.

sony has no games that could stand against cod, mgs and battlefront. m$ has, halo has enough fans and lara is still a gaming superstar.

and no, releasing exclusives in a strong market isnt worse than releasing em in a weak market, its maybe better. they want to sell consoles not games, and a strong market sells more consoles, so a higher chance of winning over costumers in a strong market is good.

If Tomb Raider can stand against the big ones, then Uncharted most definitely can. It's a much bigger franchise now.

OT: I don't know business-wise, but as a consumer I much prefer Sony's approach.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Actually, PlayStation is quite slow on the last couple years. Probably they are working on Morpheus games and shining their 2016 and 2017 lineup that promises to be quite awesome.

Are you even serious?

Gran Turismo > Halo.

Also, if we are speaking about a standalone game, Uncharted is big enough to fight and beat Metal Gear Solid as well.

Tomb Rider also is not a MS game.

GT and forza are niche games, big niches but still niches.

halo isnt, it made for casuals and has a lot of fans.

and uncharted wouldnt stand a chance against mgs, the quality of mgs games is just so much higher. ND needs a quite year to sell alot of games.

and TR is exclusive to xbox so yes its a m$ game even if they just payed for it.
