Forums - Sony Discussion - With Driveclub's success, what does it says about PS4 needing critical acclaim to sell games?

2 million is before PS+

They did not bother to mention it at E3 (June 16-18, 2015)

They did not bother to mention it at the PS+ launch (June 25 2015)

More than a week month after the PS+ launch they "rememberd" that it already sold 2 million.

EDIT: "week" changed to "month"

Lol who should we believe in then? The game creator who posted it sold through 2M units before Driveclub's PS+ version went live or a random vgchartz forum member with no credentials/connections to Sony,NPD,GFK, Mediacreate/Famitsu etc?

I bought it because I wanted a racing game and from the youtube videos it looked great.

Honestly I do my research for videogames via youtube and not other type of reviews. I usually watch gameplay videos and if it seems interesting I buy it even if it has like 60-75 on metacritic.

You need to wait tracking services releases the data lol

And yes... 2 million before PS+ is confirmed fact.

But you can believe VGC data over official data... I will stay with the last one for accuracy.

The tracking services does not know the digital download figures until Sony tells them. Maybe they have better knowledge of retail figures than Sony but I doubt Sony are clueless about the trends.

Are you saying they are lying? lol I guess you don't believe anything coming from developers or publisher unless VG chartz or any other tracking services says so.

And so the point of your arguments hinges on what? You seemed a bit lost here...

I am just curios why they failed to mention anything on sales during E3 or at PS+ introduction. Publishers are usually not shy to tell us if a game has reached an even figure in sales.

but what do you want? that they announced almost 2m sold at E3 or what?  it's not like they did it in a week or a month.  Also Sony didn't announced any ps4 numbers at E3, yet the console still shipped more this quarter than last year in the same quarter.  Not everything has to be announced in a big event

For me it's a very accomplished racing game.
