With Driveclub's success, what does it says about PS4 needing critical acclaim to sell games?

I am just curios why they failed to mention anything on sales during E3 or at PS+ introduction. Publishers are usually not shy to tell us if a game has reached an even figure in sales.

but what do you want? that they announced almost 2m sold at E3 or what?  it's not like they did it in a week or a month.  Also Sony didn't announced any ps4 numbers at E3, yet the console still shipped more this quarter than last year in the same quarter.  Not everything has to be announced in a big event
