No. I guess I worded it really badly. Fixed camera adds so much charm and uniqueness to different places and needs to be used frequently. There can definitely be free camera but not 100% of the time you are controlling the character.

The camera will be a behind the back, full control, 100% of time, 3D camera. Period. That is the modern standard that every JRPG franchise has adopted.

I don't know about that. Many of the memorable scenes were tied to fixed camera, scenes that would not simply work behind the back. And I'm talking gameplay moments not cut-scene moments.

edit: Fixed camera can bring so much to storytelling.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Your wrong.

This is getting pathetic.

This is just as bad as the XV meltdown when they said they ditched the original story even though we knew nothing about it. Could have been trash considering Nomura. Also who could forget the Type-0 meltdown when they didn't announce a Vita version. FF fans can't be pleased.

The article says the battle system will still be recognizable, so no ARPG.

Yeah, FFVII's combat system was probably one of its weakest elements. I got through most of the game holding down 'Attack' with the odd Cure, Magic or Summon when needed. The boss fights were a bit more interesting, but a revamp of the battle system is much needed. Even for a Final Fantasy game, VII had some of the least strategic fights in the franchise.

Hopefully it'll be a more strategic system even with the flashier Advent Children style visuals.

This isnt going to end well.

The fans clamored for this game for many years. To make a remake aimed at a new audience and ignoring that fanbase is a mistake. They need to stick to the original material as much as possible.

It makes a lot of sense betraying a combat system which was the heart and soul of FFVII for the remake. Yep. Why not introduce new gamers some "old" ways to play? And give fans of the game what they actually want?

EDIT: Fuck, I'm so angry right now, you can't mess with one of my favourite games ever, SE.

Their breaking apart and rebuilding

Hey guess what!

Emo cloud from dissidia/KH/Advent children will be NEW cloud

I couldn't care less about that, but you can't change the combat system dramatically like it's nothing. Hell, that's butchering the game. And I think it's very disrespectful with the original. You can improve the game, that's fine, but alter dramatically its gameplay is... disgusting. Maybe the director is... exagerating. If they keep the ATB system and they do some improvements over it, I wouldn't complain. But it sounds to me like they are completely ignoring it. I don't care about the tastes of the modern gamers, it's a matter of respecting the original, respecting its legacy and all that it was. This is disgusting.

I created a topic about this weeks ago. Most people seemed like they already expected this.

Let's hope it doesn't change to ARPG.

Going by some here the remake would have:

- The same fixed camera, on the same angles
- The same MIDI soundtrack rendered on the PS1 soundchip
- The same turn-based combat

Because fuck 20 years of improvement / refinement.

REmake would never have happened if it were up to you, and FF would be dead like Guitar Hero for releasing the same old shit again and again, and again.

Face it. Things change. This game is not going to be made solely for nostalgia-blinded fans.

I hope it keeps some sort of turn-based combat system. I don't really want it to be an ARPG.

Hey, as long as the OST doesn't change I'll be fine. They've already released the game over and over again, it doesn't make much sense to do the same battle system AGAIN. Times are changing, so as long as the battle themes, and story are in tact, I can learn to appreciate the changes...assuming they aren't crappy.
