I don't see the issue. All this did was build hype for NX from the jump. The games were not coming to Wii U so Wii U is unaffected.
You know it was Square who said it, not Nintendo? Besides, if it was in fact a slip, Iwata has no control over slips...

Ok, when has something like this happened in the past? Before Nintendo made an announcement themselves that is. |
Nintendo has already formally announced the NX
Square announces they're considering an NX release for its future DQ games. Theres no slip up, just the internet over speculating as usual lol. Dragon Quest X was announced for the Wii U in 2011, it came out for the Wii U in 2013. No actual info has been spilled on what the NX is or when its releasing. Square didn't even specify what version of DQXI NX will be recieving (if it recieves one at all)
First, the announcement was made by SE themselves, not an unknown leaker. They do with their games what they want, regardless which platform they end on. Second, it's good that people know the NX is getting games from the beginning. I don't see how this announcement could be a bad thing.
I think that the most evident thing about this reveal is that the Wii U is actually dead, and developers (including Nintendo) are seeing past this console already.
this is all speculation, just like CARS coming to nx. theres no validity to it. nintendo is coming out with another console. so game developers r saying it definitely aint coming for wiiu so maybe for NX. there is no slip. nobody knows what nx is except nintendo. apparently there rnt any development kits out yet!!!
Assuming that Square-Enix already has some version of an NX development kit or at least signed on to get one in the future and has some idea of what NX's specifications are, I'm sure if Nintendo didn't want any software announcements to be made, there would have been some contractual agreement that specified that.
