Forums - Gaming Discussion - Kojima was Supposedly too Expensive for Konami

Tagged games:

That would actually be understandable. Konami isn't Activision or EA, they don't have infinite pockets. I wouldn't blame them for parting ways with Kojima. Let him go somewhere else that can afford to have a rockstar developer on staff, or better yet, let him open his own studio.

The part that is difficult to understand is how they've handled the whole thing.

I always thought it would probably have to do with money. It usually is in most cases.

Too bad Kojima doesn't work for Nintendo.

I mean look at Aunoma.

Yeah, Nintendo treats their developers like kings

No its not. When you consider Kojima seemed to not give a damn about the Mile stones and delays, its easy to see Konami getting fed up. Kojima makes the same regardlesss; Konami doesnt.

I thought this was understood.

I mean, confirmation is welcome, but money is what tears apart these kinds of connections.

Yeah, agreed on all fronts. For the direction that Konami is heading towards (like it or not), Kojima just didn't fit in with that vision.

RockStar has shown us that the mega budget, long development method can still work extremely well if the quality and desire is there. So Kojima's perfectionist and auteur-like style still has a place in the industry. It's just not with Konami anymore.

But Konami just did everything possible to make it look like they were the villains. And now we're stuck with "Fuck Konami".

Their money, their future. Good luck replacing him and expecting the same result.

And how much money has him and his team made for Konami over the years? They had to get rid of him because they want to focus on cheap shit mobile games. Regardless of what went down Konami are still being petty assholes imo with they way they are trying to purge him and his teams name from everything. Apparently the CEO hates him.

Obviously not enough. I'm not being sarcastic, either. Obviously not enough to be worth keeping. Obviously, to Konami, he isn't worth all the lost money from months or years of "needless" delays and overspending that only effects them and doesn't effect him.

Hmm we will see if this move benefits Konami in the long run.

Castlevania goes from a handheld pixel-art series to a full fledged AAA hack 'n slash with Patrick Stewart as a voice actor under Kojima.

...

What?

...Kojima is the one who bastardized Castlevania!?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgh.

Look, I'm a new found Kojima fan - loved Snake Eater - but if that is the kind of change we should have expected from Silent Hills, no thanks. Not after the abomination that is the LoS games.
