Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Project Cars for Wii U Officially Cancelled

Well this is sad of course, but logically this is easly predicted, especially when we look how demanded the game specification on PC (even PS4 and Xbox One has difficulty running at high setting ), and also most car sim enthusiastic gamer have PC, PS4 or Xbox One already.

Found an entire room full of the people surprised by this announcement!

But really, the writing was on the wall a long time ago.

You do get returns on the investment, a copy of the game if it releases and all of the other stuff they've been able to add into it thanks to any additional funds they received.

I see you chose to just completely ignore the point about false advertising laws covering investments and services.

I remember when people where using this game as an exemple of why the wii U isn't weak. In the end they didn't make it because the wii U is too weak what a shame

I don't believe they ever released screenshots from the Wii U version.  They probably spent a week trying to half ass port it and then decided fuck it.

What false advertising? Nobody paid for a Wii U version of the game. The investment was for a PC game. TThere was no point where anyone was promised a Wii U release in return for their investment. It was always a share of any profits once the games development was covered coupled with early access to alpha and beta PC builds and a voice in the community of investors to help shape the direction of the development.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

No one should be surprised by this. The Wii u shares closed levels of power to the 360/PS3, so when they cancelled those versions, the writing was on the wall that the Wii u version would also be cancelled. They had it running on the Wii u 2 years ago. Is it any surprise that they added a lot more over the course of 2 years to the point that the Wii u can't handle the game? And those of you annoyed by the kickstarted backing, 360/PS3 owners were first, but they didn't have this huge of an outrage.

"The Wii u shares closed levels of power to the 360/PS3, so when they cancelled those versions, the writing was on the wall that the Wii u version would also be cancelled."

I wonder what levels of stupidity are required to say this kind of thing.

What does ps360 cancellation has to do with Wii U? the wii u is much more powerfull than those.

No it really isn't.  It is maybe 50 percent more powerful TOPS.  This basically means any differences from the PS360 would be minimal.  They really were a gen behind in tech with the WiiU.

stop trolling like that, it's pointless.

The WiiU hardware was a joke. Only 1GB of ram is available for games since the other one is used entirely by the OS. Not to mention the god awful CPU.

The good thing is Nintendo can learn from their mistake. The Wii made them so much money and the company wasn't worried about strong hardware, now with the WiiU failures and total lack of 3rd party support . Nintendo will have to do better with NX.

calling the wii u hardware a joke, the cpu awfull and complaining about the ram shows you know nothing about it. the cpu is no joke, the wii u, ps4 and x1 are merely gpu focused systems,w ith the ps3 cpu outperforming all 3 current gen cpus. the ram has edram to back it up and devs never complained about it and the gpu has acess to all modern resources the others have.

Honestly while it's shitty for those people that did want it on Wii U you have to have seen this coming anyway.

The Wii U is very under powered compared to the PS4 and Xbox One, and come on, it's not like the game was going to sell well on the Wii U anyway. Every other third party game didn't sell too well on the Wii U so why would this one be any different.

Even if they were to take the time and resources to find a version they can get running on the Wii U, it wouldn't even be worth it for them in the end because it most likely was not going to make them a profit on the Wii U.

I'm sure that if the Wii U, despite being the weakest console of the 8th gen, was selling very well like the original Wii then the developers probably wouldn't mind having to downgrade since they would most likely still make a profit but it's a different situation for the Wii U because the Wii U isn't selling too well.

three sentences, all bullshit.

Sure, it's not like the wii u version was on the original planning schedule but was magically cancelled after they got namco as a publisher, oh wait. it's also very stupid to say it wouldn't sell. in that case, I can say no game is going to sell on ps4 or x1 because of reasons and it would be an argument with just as much logic.

@ bolded: Care to explain why? The Wii U is a powerful console capable of producing beautiful looking games, but I don't see how you can say it's near PS4 or XB1 power level, because if it was I would imagine there would be a lot more third party games on it. I do however think it has a lot of untapped potential left in it though.

Also if you look at any third party game on Wii U mostly all of them bombed and did not sell well. I mean, ZombiU was the premiere big third party title at launch and still has not even sold a million. If there is a history so far of Wii U third party games not selling well, why should the Project Car developers assume that theirs would be any different? I'm not saying this means no developers should try, but just simply saying that I don't see why they should expect it to do very well. If they were to get lucky it maybe could have sold semi-decent numbers.
