Forums - Gaming Discussion - Videogamer Devil's Third Preview: " A cruel joke for Wii U owners"

i dont like this review. the game delivers what it promisses. its 80s action, stupid, over the top, badly produced.
the writter should stfu, there are people who like to " Charging along a snowy hilltop in a jeep fitted with a gun turret and rocket launcher, the player in charge of both aiming and driving, the sheer stupidity of taking down numerous attack choppers and ploughing through metal gates"

about gameplay and graphic, well thats good to know, but the writter is still a shithead.

Looks like a day one purchase. Maybe even multiple purchases. This may end up being the rarest Wii U title.

That being said, the singleplayer game didn't catch my eye at all on reveal, but the multiplayer looked like it could possibly be batshit crazy enough for some stupid fun. It may still be worth the purchase for multiplayer if that isn't broken.

I agree. I mean it's good to be critical, and it does seem to be a rather poor game. But being ridiculous and over the top is its premise. Criticising that is like criticising Halo for having sci-fi aliens because you don't aliens.

She is the love interest.

That is the most tame thing I can say.

Geez this game may very well secure its place among the worst games of all time when it releases, definitely worst of the year.

Now we know why Nintendo doesn't want to publish this thing.

We already knew this from the Unseen64 rumour but that didn't stop people from reaching for their guns and calling Reggie things like "useless sack of shit".

People are incerdibly quick to judge, its saddens me.

but every body like dark and griddy things, and what could be more dark and griddy than a love intrest that looks like a 15 year old?

i dont get all this story bashing. story shouldnt be judged in a reivew, how the story is told and if they archive what they wanted are the points that should be judged.

You're a little too focused on the story criticisms and not focused nearly enough on what is a relatively in depth look at the flaws of the gameplay itself listed in a few of the previews now. Yeah, the game can be cheesy, goofy, and any combination of ridiculous 80s-esque elements. I mean, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon? That was ridiculous, but it had the gameplay to back it up to make for a both fun and funny experience. On the other hand, it seems that Devil's Third lacks the polished gameplay that it would have taken to pull off the same move, at least based on the multiple previews.

i always said it looks really bad. this is only getting attention because its a WiiU exclusive.

This, why were people pretending the game didn't look bad?

I guess some of you were just being optimistic, its just a shame that Nintendo couldn't put this support towards a more promising experience

See what I mean by no win scenario? If Nintendo puts any serious backing behind this they'll be bombarded for spending resources on this instead of [insert desired game here]. If they don't people will say they aren't supporting the game or console fully. If they don't publish it, they'll really get blasted.

Oh and I think this supports my theory: they backed Itagaki and his reputation, probably gave him almost complete autonomy. And then he screwed the pooch and Nintendo didn't see it coming til it was too late. Modest budget or not, your game should at least be competent. Poor bet on Nintendo's part, but poor form on the devs too.

Yeah, Nintendo can easily strike a perfect balance ( and make everyone happy ) but lately they've been going overboard ( Splatoon ) with their support or it's so non-existant that the end product is horrible ( Devil's Third )

A perfect compromise would have been to first of all make sure that the game is going along smoothly during development ( and hence be a good game ) and that secondly they could market it here and there but not buy the marketing spots in every single major gaming website.
