Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Who will be Iwata successor?

Takashi Tezuka will probably become President seeing as he is EADs current leader.

I think Reggie would run the company good for American gamers. But it will definitely be someone from Japan lol Reggie has no shot what so ever.

Since Japan is a shrinking market, maybe having someone to focus in West would be a good strategy. Splatoon is making an impact, is nice to see a franchise being born in a dead console, like pikimin and Gamecube.

I agree. But I just think Nintendo is a very Japanese orientated company so I highly doubt it will happen.

I just came in to say that, I believe him and Miyamoto are co-leaders of EAD. Perhaps Tezuka will become president and Miyamoto will become solo head of EAD.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Tezuka and even Miyamoto really don't have much experience actually running a business.

Yamauchi didn't hire Iwata because he was a game designer. Yamauchi had hundreds of those.

Iwata was hired because he was president of HAL for several years and successfully restructured them from a company in large debt to repaying that debt in about six years or so. He had management experience in other words on the business side.

I don't know where Nintendo goes from here. I think for the next year or so Miyamoto and Takeda will operate as joint presidents until they can find someone suitable to accept the role.

Maybe Satoru Shibata from NOE makes some sense.

Ya Shibata makes a lot of sense, he was former president of Australia then was promoted to president of Europe.

I would say Genyo Takeda is the best pick as of now, but I haven't looked through all of the possibilities either. Takeda worked closely on the development of the Wii and seems to have the same fundamentals as Iwata. However, he is quite old.

Both Miyamoto and Reggie would be terrible picks.

Hopefully someone very experienced in business. I think it will be someone we haven't heard of before.

Will never happen but

Are none of you business men or women? I'm sorry, but I am a businessman and no matter where it is and when it is, as soon as I know there's a urgency in my business, I would have plans to choose a replacement. That's just business, there's no stopping.

Reggie for President. Why? Because of his attitude alone. That alone.

I didn't want to post on the subject yesterday, in honor and respect of Iwata-sama, but a day has passed and I will ay what I have to say.

I only see 3 possible candidates to take on Iwata's role.

1. Genyo Takeda = He is one of the Representative Directors and so, if Iwata didn't had a successor handpicked already, is the most likely to become Nintendo's next CEO, seeing the job he has been given, and how Miyamoto had mentioned some months/years ago he was beginning to think about retirement, so he is out of the question.

2. Satoru Shibata = He seems to have a good grasp of the market, Europe usually have a good amount of bundles that the fans have asked to come out of Japan, so he could be a good man that can lead to Nintendo have a better sense of the worldwide market, and not only Japan.

3. That guy in the Japanese Micro Direct = Yes, him. He was said to be just some PR guy, but that is exactly why I have a suspicion he may be Iwata's handpicked successor, Nintendo Directs not directed by Iwata always had a important figure from Nintendo or the developer of the games as the directors of it, but for this Direct some random PR guy was chosen for the job, since the day I aw him, I always ahd the suspicion he may be Iwata's successor.
