Forums - Movies & TV - How do you feel about John Boyega being the lead character in Star Wars?

No, I would say as soon as things like Affirmitive Action ends will we have made some sort of step toward " equality" or whatever it is. One ofvthe biggest problems for black people is, in my own opinion, the fact that they cry racism over EVERYTHING. didn't get a job? Must be racism. Didn't get generally anything you want? It MUST be evil racism. I wondered if Boyega really was the first choice for the character or is this Disneys attempt at adding color to Star Wars. Take a look at the Marvel films as an excellent example of this nonsense. Johnny Blaze is black? And Will Smith is Deadpool? It's political correctness to a nauseating degree. And before anyone attacks me, ask yourself questions like this: how would you feel if they cast an Asian as Thor? Or how about a woman? What if the role of the Black Panther went to Ryan Gosling? Would that be "fine" and "exciting?" I am guessing not....

...Excuse me? Black people cry racism over everything? No, some black people cry racism. Let's not act like even the majoriity of blacks pull the race card. Let's not generalize an entire race because a small percentage is doing something like that.

And let's also not take Boyega's, or anyone's, achievements away from them just because they're black. There's no PC involved. Deadpool isn't defined by being white. His race is up in the air. Thor is a norse God. Of course he wouldn't be black or asian. Black Panther is defined by being black. That's an integral part of his character. Those are absurd examples. People crying whenever a black character gets a leading role as being some sort of racial equality agenda is just as bad as people celebrating whenever a black person gets a leading role.

Just leave it alone.

I don't even consider the prequels canon. Lucas clearly had no idea what he was doing. For example, Boba Fett in the OT is clearly not a "clone." Same with the Stormtroopers. Also Jango Fett in Episode II is an assassin - not a bounty hunter.

Here a relevant comedic sketch about it. I do think some people feel uncomfortable about Boyega playing the lead. Therefore, they are complaning about side issues like the Stromtrooper stuff when in reality most people know stormtroopers are different from clones.

The question is, why are you (thread) so infatuated with race?
And the worst of all, are the ones that come with that bs PC hate talk. Like, if you can't take being called the word n***** you're a sensitive bitch or likes to use the race card.

I'm not racist, but...

I'm not homophobic, but....

I'm not sexist, but...

Last I checked the movie is called "Star Wars". I'm sure it would still sell like hot cakes if it starred Kristen Stuart, Will Farrel, Kevin James, Justin Beiber, and Charlie Sheen!

haha. No. It's not a romantic comedy.

Nah it's not. If you threw those actors into Star Wars though and it's a serious Star Wars movie..... It'll still be a sell out the box office will explode.

Hahahahahahahahahaha... Get out! Hahahahaha

I love it! And they should cast R2 D2 as a black guy, too!
