What happened?

Basically, all those little changes they added in Fates makes me question if it will be good..

Such as: Removal of weapon durability, buffs and debuffs to weapons (biggest issue for me), reclassing and promoting changes, weapon triangle changes, attack and defense pairing changes, class changes, etc.

I see and understand.  Forgive me if I miss something in your post as I stopped reading afer "such as" because I'm going spoiler free for Fates.

No worries, what I listed are only game mechanic changes as I want to play this game spoiler free too ;)

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Fire Emblem: Fates alone makes next year better than this year. A mainline pokemon is most likely going to be released in 2016, so that makes it even better.

Majora's Mask alone destroys everything in 2016.

With Majora's Mask and Fire Emblem: Fates, I'd say yes.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Fire emblem, bravely Second and Zero Escape 3.Nothing more needs to be said.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

If the Dragon Quest localizations, according to Horii they're happening, come out next year then 2016 will be the best year ever for the 3DS. If they come out this year then same thing. Actually, whichever year gets DQ VII wins for me.

I don't think the weapon durability had any strategic bearing in Awakening anyway. You could just buy as many as you needed for any given mission, as the game let you farm as much money as you wanted. But what it really did was encourage you to use the weaker weapons as much as possible, just to save money, if they did the job just as well. And that just wasn't fun to me. In Fates I probably won't go through the entire game just using Bronze weapons 99% of the time. And I see that as a positive thing.
It also caused a problem with the Legendary weapons, where only characters with 50+ luck and Armsthrift could use them without breaking them. That was also somethign I wasn't fond of, as my favorite character Cordelia simply couldn't get 50 Luck no matter who she paired up with. Not without the DLC skill Limit Break.

Not sure what reclassing issue you're speaking of, but one thing I like the sound of is the new seal that switches class while keeping your level as it is.
Going back to level 1 every time only ensured that I got overpowered in my quest to aquire the skills I wanted for my characters. Which you some times felt like doing sooner rather than later, due to kids/marriage.
I'd rather get my skills without getting a lot of extra stats in the process. Because I was playing on Hard (Normal) and not long after Chapter 4 did I start one shotting almost everyone with Bronze weapons. And that's while I was trying to not be overpowered as best I could, while getting some skills to pass on to children.

That's the whole point of why I dislike the things you mentioned. I think we are polar opposites in this case because the things you dislike are the things I like and vice versa :p

It's percisely why there is weapon durability so you can't abuse using legendary weapons. That means you would need to save them up or use a hammerne if you want to keep these weapons (or get the DLC, but that doesn't really count). I'm completely fine with only using bronze/iron/steel weapons because I like to have these legendary weapons at perfect durability. ...and if I want to use them, I use the armsthrift skill. Like you said, with 50+ luck I can use these strong weapons without fear of having them broken so it's not like I'm not using the legendary weapons at all. I don't think it's possible to have your luck above 50 without the DLC/pairing up/skill boosters so once you get limit break, most classes can get to 50 anyways.
and what they did to compensate for having no durability is that they added debuffs to the weapons. So from what I have heard, if you keep using, say a silver sword, your character will get debuffs and get weaker each time an enemy targets them. This prevents you from creating a wall to allow weaker units or archers to stay protected.

Reclassing without going to level 1 is something I dislike because it removes grinding and allowing your players to be overpowered. This is something I really liked in Awakening because you can basically choose anyone and they could potentially reach max stats unlike the previous games. In the older games, you will need to stick with the characters with the best stat growths as the ones without good growths will end up being really crappy. So I really liked this addition and they are changing it up so you can't do this anymore :/

If you find it too easy, why not try Lunatic and Lunatic + if your guys get too strong so easily?

Forgot to mention about no double attacking with not conventional ranged weapons too

Of course, I mean, a year when Zero Espace 3, Fire Emblem and a new Pokémon release at the same time, it can only be awesome.

Fire Emblem Fates
Bravely Second
New Pokémon

So many RPG's. Next year is going to slay.
