Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What is the truth about Hololens and backwards compatility?

This thread is transparent in the OP but only becomes more so from your replies. You have made your mind up.

Why dont you just read user reviews of Hololens?  Yosh seemed to like it too.

Just another thread on VGC to downplay content from MS' conference.

How refreshing.

Stop playing the victim Kowen.

I have read reviews on it and they're very mixed. I wish I could try the headset myself. I just want to know what the person  with the headset on can see.

Yosh did tweet about it, but have you ever heard Shuhei say anything bad about anything in his life? He is always respectful.

You got to see what the person was seeing with morpheus with a tv screen by the user. You get a great idea of how the VR is working.

I want the same for Hololens. I want to know what you see.

Thats still not showing me what VR looks like as if I had on the head set on my self. Thats what VR is going to have to overcome to actually sell it to people.

But that's the best way to show it off without putting the headset on yourself, why can't they do the same for Hololens?

What better way could they show you other then the way the did Minecraft?

I think it's deceiving they way they showed it. How much clearer can I make it? I want to see it from the persons POV like they did with Morpheus

You cant see that unless you put on the head set your self. Same with VR, I cant see what the persons is seeing unless I put on the headset. That VR demo you are talking about shows nothing but a game playing on a screen.

Besides that Holo lens is quite restrictive in its fov, it's simply not meant as an XBox One peripheral. It will be a standalone device which raises the cost substantially.

XBox One BC will grow but who knows how fast and how many late gen games can be converted. XBox 360 eventually managed to emulate about half of the XBox library (461 titles) According to wikipedia there are 1131 retail games for 360 and another 702 xbla games. So even if they get the full 100 working at christmas it's still only 6%. Trading your 360 in for an XBox One expecting to be able to play all your games would be foolish. I'm keeping mine.

By the way it is 22 games now for BC (and it isnt "at launch"... it is in beta for preview members only). 100 by the holidays is a hell of a lot no matter what you say.

"Augment is nothing new I have it on my Vita" FFS... yeah, thats really the same thing isnt it... sigh.

Taking what I said out of context again. Why don't you quote the whole thing?

"Augmented reality is nothing new, I have it on my Vita and it works quite well. Hololens in theory is a good idea and I like the idea"

If you didn't get what I was trying to say first time around, I like AR, I have used it on my Vita, and I like the idea of strapping AR to you head like the Hololens.

And here's an example of what I was worried about

Only 1131 retail titles? Damn I thought it was way more than that. If that is true and they get BC for most of the recent titles then it will cover most of the 360's gamers library of games they actually still want to play if they convert to the X1.

You keep missing my point. Leave it at that instead of going around in circles.

Then the thread is all yours.

Well you keep sayin the same thing I keep replying I want to see what the person see like they did with morpheus. And you kkep saying but it's just a video stream.

Why do I want to see the Hololens stream? And why you should to. Is I want to know what the quality is like, does it track well (you should get a good idea if they set it up like the Morpheus demo) does the hologram overlay well and what part of the reality video is overlaid with the holograms?

I can see all of this if they show a god damn video stream straigh from the Hololens.

Do you get me?
