Forums - PC Discussion - Just bought a chromebook, should I return it? Because it was on frakin clearance and I wanted it before someone else got it!!!

You can't install programs on it; you can only use stuff from the Chrome store and the whole Google suite. For that reason, I absolutely love it. I use it for nothing but surfing, watching stuff, and writing (you can work on documents in offline mode), and it's super fast and clean because it's not clogged up with all the other stuff. I honestly believe that if surfing and docs is all you want to do with it, the inability to download programs is actually its strength.

Well if you wanted a laptop for gaming, bad choice. Like it says on the tin, it's a machine more or less for browsing the Internet and doing the stuff you would do on a smartphone/tablet with about the same level of competence. It's not a serious computer, but if it does what you need then okay.

Yep. I did not want it for games or really downloading anything. Just resumes, word douments, internet, etc. Adobe and flash is what I hope for as well.

Well, Flash works in the browser, but you can forget about using the Adobe suite of tools.

Of course you can add pictures when making documents, but printing is a problem.

Again, it's not a serious computer.

Can you print on it or add pictures?

You can save files onto it, just not executable ones (.exe).  I do believe that you can print from Google Docs.  You can use Adobe and other plugins, but not software.  Basically look at the Chrome store, and that's what you can do with it.  Nothing that can't be installed as a plugin or done directly online, like with Google Drive and stuff.

I just have all my docs on Drive and all my music uploaded to Play so I can stream it from anywhere, so as long as I've got internet I'm gold.  Even without it I can store some music right on it and edit docs in offline mode.

I feel like if your going to buy a tablet, it should be x86 and have windows on it.
Else just stick with your smart phone.

"should I return it?"  honestly I would. It depends on your needs, if you really need it for some funktion right now and its cheaper than the alternatives that have windows on it, then yeah.

I just bought me a Samsung Table, but for what it is, the above sounds like a winner.
