Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii U Japan sales 2013 vs 2014 vs 2015

The Wii U is down YOY by 1,684 unit.
Last year during week 30, the Wii U has sold 9,429 unit.
That's mean that Wii U must sell 11,113 next week for be up YOY.

Any way, if will not be up YOY next week, then, it will definitive be up YOY the week ending 1 August ( 2 August in Japan ).

I hope it does, as the Hyrule warriors push will start to take effect there.

Well, with Mario Maker, it should pass 2014 in any rate, and than battle against 2013 sales

LittleBigPlanet sold absolutely horrendous in Japan. Sure it being Mario Maker it will do better but Japan really doesn't seem into games like that. I wouldn't expect to much from it in Japan.

Wii U is up YoY fixing the thread now, splatoon week was off by 400 units.

Mario Maker had a great start at Amazon Japan, so it seeks it will do fine.

LBP seemed too complicated as an editor and not good enough gameplay wise as a jump n'run, a stigma which it has to this day. Probably also part of the reason why Nintendo does so many vids about how people are making new levels and what is possible in Super Mario Maker. And the Jump n'run part naturally needs no advertisement no more

To be fair, creation games have become much more popular in Japan since LittleBigPlanet first launched, with the rise of Minecraft.

Since Mario is already an established IP and 2D Mario is especially popular in Japan, on top of the fact that it will be released with a bundle, it should do nicely. How nicely is the real quesiton here.
