Forums - Nintendo Discussion - do u turn off your wii u or just leave it on standby?

just wanna know when you are not using your wii u, do u turn off the power or just leave it on standby mode?

i used to leave it on standby mode all the time, but have recently read an article about how electronic products consumpt the power in long time standby mode and decided to switch off the power of my wii u every night.

can anyone tell me is this really neccesary?

edit: sorry for the confusion, by "turn off" i mean unplug the socket

I turn it off. I don't trust standby after my Wii literally burnt my Super Smash Bros. Brawl disc (though, to be fair, I think I left it in there for weeks without turning it off completely).

Turn it off, save a couple of $ on the bill.
Same with lights in the house, and change all the bulbs too.

Turn it off. Every time I do turn it back on, the gamepad is always dead though...

I just turn if off normally, but it will sometimes put it on standby automatically (when downloading updates and such)

I just turn it off, mainly cause I don't wanna waste electricity.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Turn off! It may use less power than the Wii..........but think of all the trees. And if your selfish, think of all the $$$$$ you could save!

I just pull the plugs, one by one.

Standby cause I don't really care

I accidentally leave it on, a lot, lel.

I flat-out unplug consoles when I'm not using them.
