Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My first E3 2015 prediction! A return to darkness...

I hope so! It's not only highly plausible, it'd be an amazing game to add to the Wii U library.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

When this game was announced i instantly thought "Nintendo has got to secure this".

I hope they do that. It would be a nice addition to Wii U's library.

Didn't one of the lead developers get busted for child pornography or something like that???
The media could put a really nasty spin on a story like that...
Would Nintendo take that risk???

That was when they were Silicon Knights several years back. By now, some staff have turned over. It gets tricky when they're incorporated as 'Quantum Entanglement Entertainment' now to tie them back to being Silicon Knights.

As bad as something like that sounds, the painful reality is that we know there's perverts out there in a very large number companies across a multitude of industries. They did what had to be done with no excuses made for what took place.

Essentially reports were that Silicon Knights lived off the reputation of Eternal Darkness and that Nintendo helped that project quite a bit. See also the MGS remake.

They made Too Human with Microsoft, which I'm pretty sure bombed critically and sales wise.  Then they went to Activision and made X-Men: Destiny and that was a disaster of a title.

Point is I loved Eternal Darkness, but it is clear that Silicon Knights got desperate after two major bombs and tried to drum up support and the crowd funding effort failed while being plagued by bad press about reports within the studio and people who run it.  At this stage I'd rather someone else try to mimic the best elements of Etenral Darkness and Silicon Knights just go away.

Even really good developers make duds here and there:

High Voltage (developed Injustice and MKX) -- see all the shovelware they made before

Telltale (Walking Dead) -- see all the CSI

Platinum Games (Bayonetta and others) -- Legend of Korra

There's probably a very good reason the likes Miyamoto and Kojima thought highly enough of the team to work with them in the first place.

Actually, that was when they were Precurosr Games and it happened just after their Kickstarter failed.  The Kickstarter failure and this incident is why the company disbanded and reorganized as Quantum Entanglement.

I may stand corrected. I thought I recalled that happening sometime *before* the kickstarter. I do believe it happened between the two kickstarter attempts?

Dunno why Nintendo would money hat a project that nobody seemed very interested in. The game was fairly well hyped as far as Kickstarter projects go, and it fell well short of its goal. Considering that and the issues with the dev team, it doesn't seem like a smart investment.

Honestly I can't really imagine that happening but if it did it would be one of thebbiggest announcements for me personally. I freaking love eternal darkness, hell I would pay full price just for a hd remake in a heartbeat.
