That sucks. If you don't mind me asking how do you have your consoles placed?

I keep mine in a open area so it has plenty of fresh air to circulate. No problems, fan is only loud on startup but quickly quiets down.

Last gen consoles failure rates were tied more to lead free solder than anything else.
that's why the fix for the 360, PS3, and occasional Wii was to reball/reflow.
Lead free solder is garbage.

UPDATE:

Fedex delivered the pre-paid shipping box this morning......to the wrong house.

I called both Sony & Fedex about it. Sony told me to make another request since it'll be faster that way (to my work this time), and they will look into the matter. Fedex will also investigate once the driver finishes his shift, but I'm not expecting anything to be done. Fortunately it was just the box.

I laughed hard.

She was a mere 5 months old. I didn't use her the first month and rarely used her on the 2nd & 3rd month, so it pretty much died after 2+ months of usage. Well at least she died after I finished getting the Type-0 platinum. I was in the middle of playing The Last of Us, and I didn't upload my save meaning I have to restart again which sucks since I had a perfectly good run.

She didn't really show any signs of symptoms. I mean it would get a little loud when I would play a game, but I figured that was normal since it uses more power or w/e compared to using Netflix. Whenever I used Netflix, it was pretty quiet. I finished playing FFXV, went to sleep and turned it on the next day. It booted up perfectly, booted up Last of Us perfectly, the game span around in circles and the PS4 suddenly turned off. Now, it turns off after a minute.

I called Sony yesterday morning, and they were very friendly & understanding. The automated machine told me the estimated wait was less than 10 minutes, but I ended up waiting 20 minutes. Those bastards.

I told her what happened as well as telling her I tried different power cord, and she gave the okay to send it for repairs. She had a very beautiful voice, and the way she would talk to me was very wonderful. "I hope you have a lovely day Mirson, and please feel free to call again if you have any more problems" I fell in love with her; I wanted to tell her "I love you," but for all I know, she could've been a fat middle-aged woman. Anyways, she sent me a link to my e-mail, and I had to request service from that link. So pretty much, calling them is useless and a waste of time.

They told me it would take 3-5 days to get the box, then 7-10 days after they receive the PS4, and if they can't fix the PS4, they'll send me a brand new system. I haven't received the pre-paid box yet, but I heard the service center is in Texas so hopefully it won't take long since I'm also in TX.

This was my favorite part of the post. Usually, they are fat middle aged ladies. They have great voices sometimes. I think it's because larger girls tend to have a good great opera talent young and they get lots of voice lessons.

I'm in Texas, too. My PS3 always came back pretty fast, so the same will probably be true with the PS4.

Watch me stream games and hunt trophies on my Twitch channel!

Huh. That sucks. I had to replace my original PSOne once back in the day because the laser died and couldn't read discs anymore. No problems whatsoever with PS2, PS3 or PS4 so far.

Open area. I used to have my PS3 in the same spot, but move it next to the TV since I'm running out of space and don't want it to place on top of the other electronics.

It's been over a week, and I still haven't received the box :(

You may be right.

For anyone interested in knowing, I got the box yesterday, and dropped it off an hour ago. Let's see how quicklyI receive my PS4
