Probably somebody already typed this same comment, but can we make sure this movie has a better fate than Edge of Tomorrow and Pacific Rim?
Lets spread the word!

Edge broke even plus some worldwide and passed 100 million at domestic. Movies do not need to make money domestically anymore when the world is eating up America like crazy these days. Pacific Rim did even better. 101 million here, but 402 WW. Studios get about 55-60 percent back from ticket revenue, plus any other money they make off internet and merchandising.  So 300 million alone should have easily made Edge break even. Now it is harder to make money off overseas, but it made well over 300 million so that should not be a problem.

I loved both, but Edge over Rim.

marketing costs never included , and also uneven cuts of the gross though

keep going the movie getting critical love
lets hope commercial responce the same

Saw it just now. It's a great movie. The most feminist movie I have ever seen. I really wonder why it is getting the huge positive reviews, it is a great action movie but does it really warrant 99% on Rotten Tomatoes? Mad Max is NOT the protagonist, even the movie poster makes that clear.

Edge of Tomorrow was awesome! I really enjoyed that film, very innovative even though there were similar films before it. It really hooked you in, but like Fury Road it's trailers were underwhelming.

I got nothing good to say about Pacific Rim. It is easily one of the worst films I've seen of this decade and I go to the theater at least 3-4 times a month. Sometimes 7-8. Absolutely terrible and very cliché, there was hardly any plot or substance behind that film. It was basically WWE Robot edition Smackdown Raw. At least Godzilla made me forget that film! Ahh Bryan Cranston was great in that movie, as was Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olson. Such a fantastic pair together, great chemistry! I actually though Ken Wanatbe was great as well. Sure, many people liked Pacific Rim, but from a film point of view I thought it was terrible. I look for a lot more than mindless CGI action, where was the drama and character development? Transformers even did that better imo.

No Mad Max for me.  Perhaps when it comes out on blu ray.  My movie budget and time are already designated to the Marvel Superhero movies this summer.  Avengers 2, Fantastic Four and Ant-Man.  Maybe also a good comedy thrown in the mix.  We'll see...

Fantastic four and Ant-Man? They look good to you?

I can't speak for Fantastic Four but Ant-Man is going to be great. It is likely going to blow Age of Ultron out of the waters. Though as a huge Marvel fan myself I can't say that is hard to do as AoU is one of the weakest films in the MCU. It got so much wrong it's not even funny! Quicksilver, Scarlett Witch, and The Vision as well as the Hulkbuster scene is the only reason to see this film in theaters. If that isn't your thing, then wait for the Directors Cut. It's going to be so much better than the cut up mess we got. Don't even get me started on Ultron.

From my understanding Ant-Man is going to have a very significant plot twist that is going to be a game changer for the MCU. All Marvel trailers are misleading and Ant-Man is no different. This film will be closer to The Winter Soldier or Guardians of the Galaxy in terms of awesome imo. This is the film that will end Phase 2, not Age of Ultron. That means something big is in store for this film, a mystery that I am sure will blow us away. No I don't know what it is but I do know how Marvel loves to operate. They are now marketing the shit out of the movie and any Hardcore Marvel fan will be able to tell you the significance of this film. Hell, we know it would be more important than Age of Ultron last year!

Alright, so I don't want to keep spamming this thread but it's time to get down to business. Mad Max: Fury Road! First of all let me be clear THIS IS MAD MAX!  I saw this film today and I watched the previous trilogy over the past two days. This is my Dad's favorite series and I took him to see the 7:30 show on Thursday. We both agree that it is by far the second best film in the series. No it doesn't touch Road Warrior but it blows the first film and Beyond Thunderdome out of the waters. So yes it' is that damn good! As far the people that think Max isn't the lead? You guys are smoking something because he is most definitely the lead, and he shares that lead with Imperator Furiosa and there is nothing wrong with that. Max is a lone wanderer and he always had someone who he was helping that shared a huge part with him. In this case he was helping Furiosa and the difference here was that they spent the whole time in the same vehicle as the chase was 95% of the movie. This film started with Max and it ended with Max, Imperator Furiosa was the second main lead and I do mean main. She was achieving a goal and Max tries to jack her ride and ended up helping her just like the lone wanderer he is. Selfish yes selfless, funny how that works out!

As for the whole feminism theatrical bullshit people are spreading. They were saving sex slaves.... What the hell is feminist about that? I'm a male and I likely would end up doing what Max did, what a real man did. Both Max and Furiosa did heroic things to save these women. The older women did feel superior because of their survival skills. As for the other women they were as important to Immortan Joe as oil and water is to everyone else in this world. They provide him his children and his milk... in other words without his slaves he was nothing. If you relied so much on someone I would imagine they would feel superior even if they were dominated due to how vital they are. His commodities he needed were lost and he stopped at nothing to retrieve his most prized commodies. Every villain in this series had something that they prized so heavily. So because they fought back that is considered feminism? Lmfao no wonder it took so long for slaves to be liberated, people are apparently equally stupid today as they were back then. I guess the film Selma was a loving tribute to the Black Panthers, and The Imitation Game was conclusively about homosexual equality. Which was indeed a sad part and Allan Turner was an amazing man who contributed so much to this world we live in :'(

This bullshit is so out of context and those people completely miss the point of the films and the story they are trying to portray. It has nothing to do with feminism but is in fact an action flick that is about liberating sex slaves. People are so illiterate that it is beyond ridiculous, no wonder the drop out rate is so high. I've actually heard people state that women are whores that should live on the streets. That's a hella lot of Immortan Joe's that need a kick in the nuts to learn how to treat a lady like a real man. It is apparent that a lot of people don't like change and 50 years from now people are going to look back at us as an uncivilized culture just like we look at people 150 years ago. Yes equality is important for all genders, race, and ethnics and that is a fact. Kind of funny it takes someone who is mixture of American, Canadian, Greek, and Nordic to say this and yes I am white ffs. Times change and we are all the fools of yesterday!

This film is FANTASTIC and I don't know what people are waiting for! Go see this film and it is by far the best film of this year. Star Wars suddenly has a lot to live up to, and that is one of my favorite franchise. Daredevil is also a highlight of this year! This film may very well be one of the few action flicks to win major awards.

Fun facts about Fury Road!:
- CGI is kept to a bare minimum and all these stunts are real and performed by real stuntmen
- They built 150 cars for this movie and over 80 of them were destroyed in the process of filming
-  Immortan Joe is the same actor from the original Mad Max who played Toenail
- The film doesn't take place on a set or green screen. This is a real chase in real locations. These actors went to hell and back on the roads of fury and fire
- The film was planned years ago and was planned in 1993, 1998 ( could be wrong here), 2003, 2009, and 2012. The overall plot of the film remained faithful from the beginning. The films origins and easily predates modern feminism hence why the idea of the film being pro-feminism holds no water and is laughable
- One scene took over 130 days to film
- There was only a story board and no script. George Miller was very clear and directive of his vision
- Framerates were both sped up and dropped dramatically, you could miss a lot of action with a single blink of an eye
- Yes those were real stuntmen on the poles swinging back and forth and no mannequins were used on the majors stunts. George Miller was strict on safety
- Tom Hardy is great and yes he actually was tied to the front of a speeding vehicle. The cast needs a vacation after the shit they went through
- This film is a must see for anyone who holds regards and love for the art of cinema

What are your thoughts on the backlash from feminists concerning Age of Ultron?

Also, I don't trust RT. A lot of BS movies got high scores.
