So, I know that Switch is the topic of the week (obviously). But, who's gonna buy DQVIII? I'm really hyped, I heard it's a fantastic game.

ME!  Really looking forward to it, heard it's fantastic.  Also looks like the perfect game to get into DQ in anticipation of XI since XI seems to have it's roots in a similar style.

Yep, I heard it's the most accesible and easy to get into. If I enjoy DQVIII, I'll probably try DQVII too.

It's good but not without flaws, and said flaws can be really annoying depending on how you tackle things.

I recommend checking a skill list before playing the game. There's no way to know which skills are learned in each skill tree and you can't reallocate skill points, so it's possible get stuck with shitty moves and miss the important stuff *cough*Omniheal*cough*. The game is beatable with bad skills, but the worse the skills your characters have the more you have to grind (specially for the postgame) and the grinding is bad enough as it is. There's Quality of Life stuff easy to miss too, like spells to teleport outside dungeons, to know how many remaining treasure chests are in a dungeon or to teleport to already visited places. Remember that this game has random encounters.

Another problem is that gear has the worst descriptions I've ever seen in a game. It's almost impossible to know against which spells and/or status effects they protect and by how much. If I remember correctly not even Gamefaqs can help you there.

Oh, one more thing. Getting extra copies of Orichalcum is almost impossible. So don't miss any and plan carefully what you're going to do with them. Several of the best items in the game require Orichalcum in one way or another.

Okey, thanks for the tips! . I'll keep them in mind. There are some changes in the 3DS version, so maybe they solved any of these issues. I think I heard there are not random encounters for a start. I haven't heard anything about the other things you mention. I hate grinding a lot, so if skills points csn't be relocated, I might as well see what skills are actually useful. I think there  are also two new characters, so it would be interesting to know which new skills they bring to the table.

Ugh, more ports is not what the Switch needs, especially of 3DS games who most everyone already has or has access to. I can understand Wii U ports, but definitely not 3DS. Plus unless they spend real time and effort on it (that should go toward a brand new game), it's gonna look pretty bad compared to other Switch games. Hope it's not true, but we'll see tomorrow.

Comes as no surprise, but Story of Seasons (Harvest Moon) is coming to the Switch!
