If they do, can I sniff the towel?

As much i hate microsoft, this won't happenend, if they stop x1 for go pc only, this will be at end of this gen, alieanate xbox fan would be the worst way to do anything for microsoft.

sure, they will not stop selling xbones, or making games, they just will stop investing  and port all their games to windows 10.

Why should they give up if sales are showing growth YOY? It would have been like if they threw in the towel last gen when the Wii crusched all opposition. The most important part is that they are making a profit and with their new strategy of merging the PC and console space, they are rather expanding the XBox platform right now.

Growth YOY? It lookes that way cuz last year the x1 was the but of all jokes andd the sales of jan and feb 2014 ws not very good to beging with, it got totally demolished by the ps4. The x1 will most likely see a decrease in the coming months, starting with march npd. This holliday they will be up, but the rest of the year will be horrendus.

Not the same as last gen. First the wii did not take awway sales of the 360 or ps3, cuz people had it as a secondry console, this time the ps4 is definetly taking away sales from the x1. There where some diferences in the conoles last gen, this time they will share 95% of the games, but the x1 will play them at a lower resolution and the few exclusives we get this gen, the ps4 will have more(Better will be objective). might be a battle in the US, but rest of the world the battle is over and there is very litttle the x1 can grow.

Second, Looking at how the market share is 61% US(acording to vgc), By the end of the year it will be at least 70% US. We know the holliday sales will focus on the US and like last year the disparity will be even bigger. For the 360 it ended at 57% US. The ps4 will take at least half of the US market share the 360 had and that half will be like 75-80% of the total x1's.

So 48.32 50% = 24.16m In the US.

24.16 75-80% = 30.2 -32.21m global

That is the max I think they will ever sell, taking into account that all those RROD did not go into the 360's total, wich we know is not true, so Im gessing the x1 will sell is 20-25m lt. Maybe good for nintendo, but MS will see this an an insult and will abandon hip before it gets to taht while bleeding money. They wil never compete with steam, but its less money bleading by competing with them then selling hardware at a loss competing with sony.

Dude, just drop it.

So, you think that all that is impossible?

So many people were 110% certain that Halo is never going to PC, but, look, Halo is now on PC.

Microsoft themselves said that they will release many of their big franchises on PC going forward, Gears seems like a great candidate for strengthening their PC version of XBL.

Company spent $2.5 billion on one game, Minecraft, while openly saying it has nothing to do with consoles, it was a clear move to give life to their faltering mobile and tablet marketshare.

XBox managed to lose a clear first place in its home market, while lising a significant portion if its market share altogether. Very few companies (if any) continue to invest in markets which show no promise of growth, and trying to stay relevant in the console business will just keep costing them more and more while showing nothing in return. They tried to sell a $500 cable box to consumers, at the time when the competition is selling it for $40. They shut down their TV side of the business which was supposed to be one of the cornerstones of XOne ecosystem.

Everything that they have done so far simply shows lack of confidence and committment to the XOne. Maybe my prediction is incorrect, but Microsoft has so far shown nothing for anyone to be 100% confident in XOne remaining alive in the upcoming years.

I don't think Halo online is the same as putting the main Halo trilogy on PC besides Halo 1 and 2. I don't think they are really bleeding money from the X1 they are likely found a way on making it cheaper. But still they are likely to support it for many years.

naw. The real question is what they do next gen. They have already invested to much in the XB1 to cut the cord.

They could do what the did with the original XB ends its life sooner than expected. MS released the XB360 4 years after the launch of the XB. I could see a Holiday 2017 launch.

I'm pretty sure in will sell more than 20-20 million lifetime in the US. Also are you forget games like Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears and other games that likely help it grow YOY?

My bad, I ment 20-25m global.

I alredy explained, it will grow YOY over the hollidays but drop over the rest of the year. This year we wont see that much of  rise since we alredy have a forza, 4 halos and a tomb raider on X1, I know these are not remakes, but a good chunk of the fans of each series have already jumped to x1 if they do love thouse franchises. Gears could sell less units but moove more consoles. New IP's are the key here, wich I dont think they will make or have the market shareto money hat.
