Will Ocarina of Time ever Be Surpassed and When?

In terms of quality its been surpassed many times over by now. In terms of critical scores? Doubtful, if only because one of the game's big advantages is that it only has about 30 reviews. Most games tend to get double that, and there are always inevitably scores from a few sites that weren't even around when OoT was reviewed that will bring it down.

No9, in terms of GOAT lists which reflect quality over long periods of time. OOT has the most GOAT disctinctions of any game.

I'd like to see a source on that instead of just claiming it to be true because of your personal experience in reading GOAT lists. Yes, OoT has gotten a lot of GOAT distinctions, but I've legitimately seen LttP, FFVI, and even Portal come out on top a bunch of times each, LttP very close to if not completely tying OoT.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Lol, there are plenty of better games than OoT, exaggerative critics on the net =/= everyone's opinion.

My thoughts as well.

When they figure out a way to include nostalgia and childhood memories with a new release...

LOL with those it is a relative issue
Ocarina of time never has been surpased
Intellectually, Culturally, Socially never, never
Think of it........ Wich building has surpased giza pyramids ??????
This is the same scenario, dont try to compare two different periods in time, ocarina of time with today resources will stayed amazing and will stayed at number 1

Wich one has surpased ocarina????
Uncharted??? no
TLOU??? Close but no
SMG???? Almost
The closest one is demons souls wich due to difficulty stayed away from the masses

RELATIVE LOLO???? the answer of the ignorance

Ocarina of time was a lucky game who was only reviewed by 22 reviewers, metacritic is also owned by gamespot who is american centric. I am pretty sure if you take all site from all countries in the internet you will see a different result.
And you would defentiatly see a different result if you put magazines into the score as well. Those 22 reviews are sites not magazines, most people didnt have internet when this game came out.

I think MGS4 was the goat, but that's just my opinion.

OoT was the most critically acclaimed game of its time when it released, so no, it didn't get lucky. The transition from 2D to 3D gaming was huge and OoT pulled it of better than any other franchise during that particular generation. Almost every magazine gave this game a 10/10, no matter what country they were in.

Unless there will be an even bigger transition in the future of gaming it's hard to see this game being surpassed.

As for my personal opinion, Majora's Mask, ALBW and TP are better. But they didn't take that first crucial step into 3D, OoT did.
