Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 & X1 sales reach 3 million combined in UK

Why would they say over 3.1 million, it makes no sense. And anyway how do we know GAME has the numbers correct for the UK. Remember when AMD said over 30 million, look what happened to that...

That is how they say it.

Over 10m means less than 10.1m.

OVer 20.2m means less than 20.3m.

Not necessarily. Over 20.2m would mean less than 20.3m because they are clearly rounding by 100k. You can't tell what they are rounding by in the over 10m one though.

Less than 10.1m... if they crossed 10.1m they will say over 10.1m.

I guess 1.9M PS4 and 1.1M Xbox One.

we already know, that xb1 is at 1.18million units as of end of november

1.1m end of january is NOT possible
1.3m would be the lowest possiible number, but that would also mean, that the ps4 also sold less than 150k units between 1st december and 31st january

I belive Xbox One is max 1.3 mil, while PS4 is minimum 1.7. I base that solely on those british friends i got,and what they are telling me,and the fact that many of them migrated from Xbox to PS4,and very few of them plan to buy a Xbox, but only when the price has lowered even more.

why the hell would u do that, if we got hard numbers form mcv and chart track?

over 1million mid november
over 55k units the thrid week of november
over 120k units the fourht week of november

overall ~1.18million end of november
that leaves 5 weeks of december sales and 4 weeks of january sales we don't know

no way xb1 sold only 120k units in 9 weeks between december and january

Not necessarily. Different people have different ways of doing things.

It is how companies shares the numbers... not way of doing things.

So every company in the world decided to round numbers the exact same way just because?

This is a gaming forum? Well at least the big three uses that way.

That is why you see .4 instead .5 or .0... .1 istead .0 and here we go.

Wasn't the gap at one point about 340k at one point..

So if each had 1m confirmed, we can say at the very least...

MS = 1m and Sony 1.6m, that leaves 400k, which as they were selling very close, would mean:

MS 1.2m
Sony 1.8m

Edit: Found the article, it stated that PS4 was over 1m and XBO was around 660 ish. So the gap was approx 340k, and that was a while ago, while they traded places week in week out, I suspect the gap would probably be at least 400k now.

nearly 10m shipped early november 2014
84m xb360 early june

sony did 4.2m end of 2013
10m mid august 2014

First of all,it's what i belive, and not a fact. Besides i think brits know a lot more what's going on in their country, than we do. As far as i understood, the interrest of Xbox is very low in UK,because that's what those friends keep telling me,and some of them work in gamestores. I don't say it is the truth. When it comes to my country(which is part of Europe) Xbox is more or less dead,10 to 1 in favour of PS4(but that's OT)

Ka-pi96 said:

So when Microsoft said almost 10m shipped that would have been 9.95m minimum, because otherwise they would have said 9.9m instead then.

They said  "Shortly, we will have sold in to retailers more than 10 million Xbox One consoles."

I can't even try to explain what they said... they didn't give any concrete number.
