Originality: That was a strange experience. I can honestly say, after beating this game, that I was not expecting many of the features of this game. It’s tone was way lighter than any other Zelda game I’ve played, it incorporated humor a lot more than most Zelda games, the art style was revolutionary for the series, and the whole water/sailing thing replacing Hyrule fields/Epona could be felt a lot more than what it sounds like. Progression seemed to be vertical (and I mean that in a literal sense) in that you were constantly trying to get to the highest point of each island. Overall, this was an incredibly unique experience in many ways, despite the fact that it was BY FAR the most kid friendly Zelda game I’ve ever played.

Graphics: The art style didn’t change from the HD upgrade, but my goodness the graphics did. Everything is so much more beautiful!

Story: Meh. You could easily tell the blonde pirate was Zelda, and nothing was truly explored much (story wise). In many ways the game felt rushed (and I read they took out at least 1-2 dungeons before release). I typically take 50-70 hours to explore a 3d zelda game and beat a lot of the side quests and end the game (I try to not use guides and think about it until I just cave in) and this one only took me a little over 30 hours to beat and explore most things so maybe that is why the story felt short, not flushed out, and pathetic compared to the story masterpiece that was Skyward Sword.

Is it fun? I’ve never enjoyed exploring so much in a Zelda game. I never knew what character I would stumble across or item I would come to find on each island. It was wonderfully sandboxy.
