Age of mythology is one of my favorite games of all time. And my fav on PC. From the simple but fun gameplay, to the story, the characters and the exceptional soundtrack it was just so good. The setting Greek Mythology was perfect too. I love it. I've still got the game on disc and have occassionaly played it just not in the last year due to time constaints. I'm considering getting the remastered version too.

I know some of you will say there was the Titans Expansion and I'll have you know I got that too, and I love it. But I'm talking about a proper sequel. Top notch graphics along with a new story and everything we loved about the first. It's an absolute crime that ensemble was shut down and this series has been laid to rest.

Would a good sequel be possible? I'm sure it would be hard to get a new team together and sing off a similar hyme sheet to Ensemble before them. Maybe they could make a Ryse type game but in the Age of Mythology universe as that would be suited to a PC and Console release. But I really just want an RTS like the first?

I wonder if there is still a market for this game? I'm not sure if it was mainstream enough. Maybe it was I just don't know.

Will it ever happen? I doubt it but I live in hope.

Yeah, it was great, but Ensemble Studios is dead.

Maybe a mobile game, but I probably wouldn't care about that.

a mobile game? come on man!!

thye had a team making a remaster the past year so maybe they could look into a sequel. Why were Ensemble killed anyway?

I played that and the expansion around the time they came out, awsome game.

I doubt it will happen. Ensemble closed because that genre is kinda dead. I think MS would rather do another Halo Wars or Age of Empires because those have a bigger following.

Well, many PC franchises from "the good old days" are only on mobile nowadays

Ensemble was woking on a Halo MMO that got cancelled (lots of money lost).

And I heard that all their other games were relatively expensive to develop, but real-time stategy games weren't mainstream anymore. The Command & Conquer series had a similar fate.

Age of Empires will probably happen and a Halo spin off likely too. But this is what I really want. Are RTS games in general declining and if so why?

In a nutshell, MS didn't need a studio that just made real time strategy games.

A few studios were formed by former employees of Ensemble. One of them was Robot Entertainment and they developed Age of Empires Online, a game that's now defunct.

If MS really wanted to make another RTS game they could probably get Robot Entertainment to work on it and some other studios. They don't really need a 1st party studio for a project like that.

RTS games declined years ago, that's why Ensemble closed back in 2009.

Those games just don't sell as well as they used to. People moved to different types of strategy games.

C&C used to be mega popular as well. Yet that series hasn't had a major release since 2009.

Yeah that used to be good too. it's a shame really. So ensemble was working on that halo online thing that failed and were shut down shortly after in 2009?
