Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Order: 1886 Is Australia's Most Popular Game

Why are people boasting about the order topping sales list during the first week? Almost every new game tops these lists, let's see how long it stays.

That's great but keep in mind that in Australia you can return your game within 1 week and get a full refund, even if you've already played it.

This is irrelevant. Sony still received launch window prices from every sale. At this point, I want The Order to do well, well enough for Sony to fund another game so Ready at Dawn can hopefully do the same thing Ubisoft did with the Assassins Creed first game and sequel. They had something brilliant with the world and IP just as Ready at Dawn and Sony do. But both had average first titles but AC2 was superb.

hopefully the same thing will happen with The Order.

This just shows that reviews don't mean anything. The vast majority of those buying The Order probably have no idea it's received mixed scores and bought it because they liked how it looked in a commercial or because it's box art looked good sitting on a shelf in a supermarket.

Don't think that's true. Can't remember now but did Sunset Overdrive do the same? Don't think it did.

Also, to those discussing why this game got such hate and hype, I think it's undeniable proof that it's a knock on effect of Sony publishing such high quality AAA exclusives consistently over the last 5-6 years. Ever since Naughty Dog forced the industry to pay attention to their work in 2009 with Uncharted 2, Sonys exclusives have been of a very high standard. It's Naughty Dog that first used full performance capture for its actors and now every game with cinematics does it.

Its following on from The Last of Us in particular that The Order was anticipated so much and hated on so passionately by Xbox fans. They were worried it was going to be as amazing as Naughty Dogs work and that's why they were so happy when it got mixed reviews.

thats just how pathetic these fanboys are.

Yes, it is very heartening to see gamers are beginning to ignore reviews.

Actually this was what that had happened to Killzone as a new IP on PS2 too. The first title was not reviewed well despite stunning graphically and then the second one on next gen nailed a 90+ metacritic score. This is indeed what's going to happen with The Order.
