Maybe I can't find it in the settings, but I wish there was a way to prevent the Gamepad from turning on when I turn on my Wii U.

If it's impossible then there's a huge problem waiting to happen. If the Gamepad dies, then certain important aspects of the Wii U dies (settings) because Nintendo thought it was a good idea to make the Wii U settings only usable by Gamepad. :/

And that thing costs dearly..

Nintendo really is dealing with an additional headache with the warranty or servicing malfunctioned HW.  Console + gamepad are both expensive (to repair/replace) so its another hard lesson learned for Ninty this gen.

I prefer not to use it. Even with games that have "additional features" or support for GamePad functions, I always prefer the Pro Controller. I just can't stand how short the battery life is, how bulky the thing is, or looking away from the TV to interact with something on a separate screen.

My sister likes Off-TV play, and I can see how in games like Captain Toad, Mario Party 10, Kirby, etc it has it's uses and could improve the experience and make it unique. But I also think I would have enjoyed Captain Toad more if I could have just used a Pro controller.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

no

no....

Netflix and a hopeful future kid Icarus game :P

Nope, not unless it came with some sort of superior version of the Wii controller + that blew my mind in what it can do that nothing else has done before or as well.

First there is off screen play. Fricken amazing. In the middle of a game and someone wants to watch TV, no problem, switch it to the gamepad and continue gaming. Plus it has decent range for many houses as long as there isn't too much interference. I can get it about 35-40 feet away from the console, to the opposite side of the apartment and it works great. Recent updates seem to have increased the effective range and this is also with lots of interference since it is an apartment building.

Are your walls made of paper? :P

My WiiU only works in my open plan living room, and close to the TV area, it even struggles if you take it to the kitchen area. Same thing happens in my friends and family houses, only works where the console is located. It would be nice if I could take it to my bedrooms, even the toilets, but alas. That's why I called it a limited handheld. Range was one of the let downs for me (due to 5GHz band, I know...), I wanted to use it everywhere in the house xD

Not at all lol. The hallway is mostly clear of clutter and I could almost see the Wii U from the end of it at that 35-40ft range. It makes sense it might struggle in a kitchen actually. Do you have a microwave in there? Between Fridges, freezers, all the other emf from so many appliances in kitchens it makes lots of sense that there could be issues. I can't use it in the master bedroom which is the farthest from the console, but beyond that it works everywhere in my apartment. I'm not sure what could be causing so many issues with yours and your friends capabilities for the blutooth. Is it surrounded by other consoles/DVD/TV that also send/receive signals? Any of those could cause issues as well. Even if they do use different frequencies they can still cause issues.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

I would like it slightly less. It has some good uses for multiplayer and a few games but honestly is isn't as revolutionary of an idea as the Wii motion controls were.

I use the gamepad gyroscope for Captain Toad during the mine cart levels. I hate to say it but I love it. I'm spinning all over the place whipping turnips at everything. Not only is it fun for me, its amazingly accurate. If Star Fox is that accurate I'll play it with the gamepad and will spin like a fool and love it.

Oh man. I couldn't agree more with everything you said lol.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Wow. People need to get it out of their heads that this $200 is a magical price point. It has been historically, and it still seems to be that way for hand helds, beyond that the PS4 has shown that people are willing to pay far more than $200 for a console. Heck, even the 360 and PS3 have shown that.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
