Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft trims price of Xbox Live Gold membership to $40

Good for gamers but bad for MS if its permanent, slashing 1/3 of free money like that. Doubt much more people would subscribe at a lower cost, most people get it for multiplayer and they would've subscribed already.

What site is that? PM me if you dont wanna link it :)

http://livekaarten.nl/

It's a Dutch site, got it from a friend. No idea if it works in the US.

thanks, im from EU, dont think theres a region lock between EU countries like PS+

Always got mine for 33-36€ instead of 60.

Easy to find online sites selling for less.

Obviously they feel the need to entice some extra consumers. I wonder if sales were lagging behind. Either way they went from $10 more than PS PLUS to $10 less. I can't see sony reducing theirs so I'd expect Microsoft after a while to increase there's but only back to $50. Will be interesting to watch.

And for the record I think the price of these sub services are absolutely fine. Not overpriced at all especially when you consider the free games you get.

No disrepect, but I don't think the 2nd largest company in the world has issues with making money.

pretty nice if it's a permanent price drop, but tbh I would expect some sort of announcement in that case

True.  I'm guessing it's just a sale.  Or maybe they are just testing the waters.  If it is permanent, I wonder if this is just to stop a future decline in Gold membership.  Many 360 gamers are going to move on in the coming year, when the console drop in price, and quite a few are probably going to be switching sides.

M$ are cutting the price on everything boy. You can get xbox ones here for 330 pounds with three games brand new

I really don't understand what your statement had to do with anything he said. He never once mentioned MS's ability to make money. He simply said they were losing money which is bad. I don't care how successful a company is no one in the world is going to say it's a good thing to lose money.
