wishing for death of brawl and smash 4 players... really? I like melee but its so out dated smash 4 is so much better . In my opinion but please respect others dont be like that there is room for both if anything i hope they kick melee out just for that lack of class on display those people and anyone who agrees should be ashamed 

Nintendo has failed to meet the demands of hardcore Smash players. The hardcore Smash players have nothing to be embarrassed about.

True story! I think they just can't adapt to new play styles and a lack of exploits and other nonsense.. Shame really but oh well

They want to feel like they're better than the others.
A common thing with cultural products, really.
You can see it with litterature, cinema, music, painting, etc...

People like to think they're "above" the others, that they have better taste and so on.

It's completely stupid, but well... I don't think there's much we can do about that.
I never understood why some people would bash others just because they have different tastes. Hell, games are about having fun, not having "more fun" than another.

Melee fans aren't always awful. Just the radical ones (In terms of how much they love Melee and hate Brawl and U/3D). I would say the same about Islam, but video games are way more opinionated than religion.

It's never the case, of course they aren't all like that, but let's just say there is an awful lot of them.

Personally, I never really got into Smash Bros. (never own a N64, GC or Wii) before the 3DS version, and now I'm slowly getting in the "Smash community", and I see/meet people like this all the time, wether it's in tournaments or forums.

It's just plain annoying.

But well, as you said, not all of the Melee fans are like that, and that's a good thing, but man there are a lot of hardcore fanboys...

But as it is said in the comments of the article in my first comment, the Smash community is still young. The vast majority of players are teenagers and young adults. And we all know how they can be at times (me included, even though I hope I'm not an ass to other people about their tastes) 

Melee is an old, inferior entry in a series that has moved beyond it, and it has not, in all blunt honesty, aged all that well. It was a great game for it's time. But it is not the amazing game that many paint it to be.

And quite frankly, people being so "super serious" about a competitive scene for a cartoony fighting game, will never stop being hilarious. And sad.

I love Smash Bros. But some people genuinely need to get a life.

There was already a 130 comment long thread about this, but anyways this is a relatively hypocritical opinion.  "I hate that Melee players hate others, but I hate Melee and hopes it gets kicked out" makes you no better than any of the Melee fanboys who cry about Brawl and SSB4.  The actual opinion of almost all Melee players is that they wish their community was separated from the SSB4 and Brawl communities, while a very vocal minority (probably like 2-3% of Melee players) call for the death of the new games.  I don't agree with anything the Melee community did at APEX, but generalizing the entire community of Melee based on the actions of a few and asking them to be kicked out is just as dumb.

Yeah, as someone who is a huge fan of Melee, the Melee fans that bash Smash 4 and the people who enjoy it really disgust me.

I like Melee, but I like Smash 4 too, and some Melee purists can give the Smash community a bad rep.
