Forums - Gaming Discussion - Edge of Eternity (Japanese-style RPG) Yasunori Mitsuda on board edit: Kickstarter up - PS4/XB1/PS4

Kickstarter is up:

Midgar Studios, the French studio who are also involved in the excellent looking Hover: Revolt of Gamers (the recently Kickstarted Jet Set Radio-esque game coming to PC, PS4, XB1 & WiiU) are gearing up to launch a new Kickstarter...

... except it's not quite new.  You see, they'd attempted this before back in October 2013 and unfortunately came nowhere near to their goal.  The project looked pretty good:

Although obviously pretty early in development judging by the fact that the animations were so stiff and such.

The game was developed for mobile + Vita initially, but they planned on bringing it to everything:

"That is why Edge of Eternity will be available on: smartphone, tablet, PSVita (platforms for which we originally developed the game), PC, PS4, X-Box One, Mac, Linux, Ouya, Wii U…"

Anyway, the Kickstarter didn't get enough funding and they went back to the drawing board.

Well, their time at the drawing board has expired and they're almost ready to re-announce the game and start another Kickstarter campaign.  They've released a new video showing the progress they've made since 2013, and things seem to be coming along pretty well:

As you can see, it's very traditional-styled - ATB battle system, big maps to explore etc.

And going along with that, they've now gotten Yasunorii Mitsuda on board to help with the music of the game:

So yeah, keep an eye out for the new Kickstarter on February 15th.  I don't know what platforms they're aiming for now (hopefully the same ones as before), but they certainly seem to have pulled the project together from what it was before.

Vita was one of the original platforms announced for it.

They've yet to say what the new platforms are going to be in the Kickstarter (I suspect PC), but I wouldn't count it out yet.

All platforms straight out? or as stretch goals?

Originally, all those platforms were part of the base goal.

I don't know how it's going to work this time around, you'd have to check the Kickstarter when it goes live.

Looks pretty nice. Best of luck to them. If it makes it, I'll have to check it out.

Game doesn't look good. I will just buy the soundtrack.

Another quality RPG for Wii U.

*Blindly signs up as the guy holding the document laughs maniacally.*

I love Mitsuda but the game looks absolutely hideous. The game will have to pull off something really interesting for me to even think about putting it on my wishlist.
