Seeing as how Iwata has decided not to launch the N3DS in the West after all; this will be a truly tough year for the 3DS, I think my 15% down yoy was too optimistic at this rate, and even though the 3DS would not have prevented a decline; it would have staved it off at least for a month or so.

As with all these similar threads, it's quite interesting! The new year isn't off to a flying strt for 3DS, but that might change when N3DS hits the stores. Question is, what can N3DS accomplish?

Well, of course sales in total are down YoY. Europe and NA are waiting for New 3DS. Old 3DS models will stall as people decide to wait.

It won't be interesting to compare YoY sales until New 3DS is out everywhere, and then we can see if Nintendo can return to 2013/ 2014-like sales of 3DS.

Regardless; I think we'll be in for a rude awakening when the N3DS launches, a lot of people are expecting it to cause the 3DS to be up yoy overall for 2015.

Very few people think that, the same few people who talk about Wii U somehow making a huge comeback. Most people who put logical thought into seem to think it will just help it from declining too sharply. 2014 was down like 35% YoY, this year probably won't be such a harsh drop, perhaps 15% or about 8 million this year.
