Forums - Nintendo Discussion - No one's talking about the new Splatoon news? You'll want to.

I know that that's the issue, I was discussing the implications.

Nintendo doesn't have the luxury of offering multiple modes, their userbase is too small. That's actually one of their smarter decisions in this.

The game's user base will be smaller with just one mode. The game should be F2P with just one mode. You don't charge $60 for a multiplayer shooter with only one mode. No one mode is good enough to not get boring quickly. Short of offering a 20+ hour single player campaign, charging $60 for only one online mode, only one 2 player local mode, and only one assumedly supplimental singleplayer mode is an absolute insult.

You don't know how long the singleplayer is lol. Many $60 games out there with just a 10 hour singleplayer campain. MP3 I can beat in 7 hours easily.

I hope they mean there will be only 4 vs 4 multiplayer modes and that this is a mistranslation. Adding a capture the flag mode would take one day of development work...

Are you going to buy it?

I didn't buy WWHD, a remake of my favorite game of all time, because I thought it was $10 overpriced.

No. I'm not going to buy it. Not at $60.

Nintendo should just delay this game so they can add in voice chat and revise their online multiplayer plan. Not having voice chat (even if people can be annoying)for an online shooter at this point of the industry makes the game seem very archaic even if the suggestive audience is limited to children and Nintendo fans who dislike online voice chat - both of which form an extremely small user base.

And having only one multiplayer mode in random online because its hard to find matches for 4 vs 4 is extremely risky for a new IP like Splatoon that has a lot to prove. If they're really afraid that having more online modes makes 4 vs 4 matches rare then they should allow 3 vs 3 or even 1 vs 1 with maps modified for fewer players. And not having bots because they wouldn't play well is silly. IMO that's picking the worse of two poisons and it shows a lack of ambition and effort put into this game.

MP3 is a different beast. You and I can beat Metroid in 7 hours, but most people are not going to do that. Splatoon's single player is must likely just a level based single player platformer.

"Game won’t use CPU fighters; only once 8 human players have been found will a match start"

LAME

"-No communication with players you are matched with"

GOOD. Tired of all the 12 year olds playing games like GTA5 with their shit-tier quality headsets. etc.

Wait, if there's no CPUs in matches what happens if one player like drops out? Does the whole match end? Some people might have disconnects too. Pardon my ignorance, I'm not too big on online gaming.

Also... no communicating with players.... Um, isn't it 2015?

Nintendo's done discrete replacement of dropped players by CPU in many of their games for years, actually. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii featured it, which was continued to Smash 4 and Karts 7 and 8, so likely that will happen here, but neither of those games will populate an incomplete match with CPU players upfront.

In regards to no communication, how do you get around the fact of screaming trolls and the endless stream of profanity that voice chat inevitably becomes? The whole affair just seems unpleasant from whenever i've seen it.

the industry standard is a "mute player" option.

Then it's not an insult. They set a price, you choose what you want to buy. Noone is insulted except a person who doesn't discern what is worth their money and feel ripped off despite the prior info.

It's insulting that they would charge that much for that little in the first place. That's like saying that someone's not flipping you off because your eyes are closed.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a blooper in regards to this game?

I'm just saying, if the singleplayer is good I'll be happy to pay €50 for it.

It's an insult only if the buyer doesn't know how to manage their money. That would be like someone asking you to trip you while your eyes are banded, and then saying yes.

...What on Earth are you talking about?

And no, its an insult for simply existing the way it is.
